2001 Mercury Villager Questions & Answers
Check transmissiom fluid on a2001 mercury villager
If it's a front wheel drive motor it's on the drivers side near the steering column and is near the firewall on rear wheel drive engines it's under the windshield wiper cowl on the passenger side of the engine
AC not working on 2001 Mercury Villager
AC will not run unless the clutch is energized. You got it to engage by jumping power line. Check to see if there is a relay in the circuit that gets power to the clutch. 35PSI at 3000 rpm at 75 degrees ambient is about right. How about checking the AC on/off switch? Get a schematic and chech any component in the power trail to the clutch.
2001 mercury villager runs ok when cold the warmer it gets the worse it misses the codes it give me are po300 po180 po325 not sure what problem is just started this few days ago
code p0300 refers to random misfires---misfires detected==causes ---spark plug/s --HT lead/s ---injector/s---ignition coil/s---low compression---ECM
code p 0180 refers to fuel temperature sensor A --circuit malfunction === causes ---wiring---fuel temp sensor---ECM
code p 0325 refers to knock sensor (KS) 1 bank 1-- circuit malfunction===causes ---wiring---poor connection---KS
as the codes vary to much and are not related , the first thing I would do is to replace the ECM with a known good unit to eliminate a component failure when it gets hot
after that check wiring for injectors and fuel pump
a lot of misfires can be traced to low fuel pressure and in this case, it could be from a fuel pump failing to produce sufficient pressure when it warms up( shorting out internally)
why I suggest the ECM in the first place is the code for the knock sensor which has little to no relevance to the others and could indicate a ECM problem
Cruise control lights up on dash but does not engage
Check for applicable trouble codes, relating to cruise, see if that points us in the right direction?
Make sure the brake lites, work.
Other than that, about all I can tell you is to look up the wiring diagram for cruise control, check voltage and ground circuits.
Need a key for a 2001 mercury villager where can i
YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE MERCURY DEALERSHIP.SINCE YOUR VECHICLE HAS THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM. THEY HAVE TO SPECIAL MAKE KEYS BEFORE KEY SWITCH AND IGNITION IMMOBILIZER MODULE WILL WORK ALLOWING VECHICLE TO CRANK.
Why does not the brake sign light on the panel go out?
Hi there I am technology tech mechanic I work on electric and man. I come from line line of mechanics I am 5gen bc it is a check light just like for your engine optimization services there is something wrong with it and it doesn't have to be big deal could be a light bulb
Replace heater motor resistor
Try tapping it with a broom handle. Reason for this comment is that new part is made same as old. Unless you have a warranty it can fail quickly. Unsure of location of your exact type but part is usually in ductwork and much is hidden. Try Web for photos using your exact model details.
My lights won't turn off at all on my mercury villager 2001
If your talking about auto headlamps, pull the two fuses in diagrams, it may stop your headlamps from draining the battery, till you can diagnose the problem. You have a lighting control module that controls the headlamps, that module may have a problem? It's hard for me to be sure, from where I'm sitting.
Can you check for applicable trouble codes, to see if a code points to lighting control module. Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free, if there are any.
What does a digital trouble code P0172 mean?
System Too Rich (Bank 1) What does that mean? Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a rich condition (too little oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. Note: This DTC is very similar to P0175, and in fact your vehicle may show both codes at the same time. Symptoms You will more than likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a misfire. Causes A code P0172 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters can cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry. There could be a vacuum leak. There could be a fuel pressure or delivery problem Possible Solutions Possible solutions include: Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary Cleanthe MAF sensor. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling Inspect fuel lines for cracks, leaks, or pinches Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail Check the fuel injectors, they may be dirty. Use fuel injector cleaner or get them professionally cleaned/replaced. Check for an exhaust leak before the first oxygen sensor (this is unlikely to cause the problem, but it is possible)

Where is the fuse located for the inside lights
Look for s large square box with a plastic lid with FUSE written on it within the Engine compartment .
Alternatively probably underneath the footwell area or behind a footwell panel normally on other cars.
