Having a problem: I have recently replaced the battery and checked my alternator (it checks out good) on my 1996 Subaru legacy 2.5 GT

Run engine without switching any of the items and connect a voltmeter to your battery. It should read more than 13volts. If less than that but reads about 12.5V then check drive belt tension. If it reads OK (above 13V but not exceeding 14.5V) then switch on each item individually to check for biggest voltage drop. The one that creates the biggest drop maybe the one that creates that drain. If drop only happens when ALL items are on. then your alternator may need servicing because it could not cope with large loads. Also check all wires connected to it (alternator).

Hi - i'm thinking of buying a subaru wagon,

Mass air flow sensor or fuel pump or both, they will run $300.00 for the pump, fuel sock and filter mass air flow sensor runs about $300.00 as well. But if it is doing what you say the catilitic converter may be dead and Subaru parts are expensive, the cat I am gussing is $300.00 aftermarket. so I would take it to a shop and have it diagnosed before you buy and at a Subaru shop. You may want to walk away from it, you didn't mention if it had a check engine light on or not, and if the cat is plugged or damaged you may have to buy a 02 sensor.

How to reset airbag light

Hello,

I hope this info helps.

NOTE: This is the only information provided by the manufacturer for clearing diagnostic trouble codes.

97511505

CLEAR MEMORY
After eliminating problem as per trouble code, clear memory as follows:

Make sure ignition switch is ON (and engine off). Connect one DIAG. terminal (1) on diagnosis connector (2) terminal No.1.

where warning light is flashing, connect the other DIAG. terminal (3) on terminal No. 2 for at least three seconds . After memory is cleared, normal warning light flashing rate resumes. (Warning light flashes every 0.6 seconds (ON-OFF operation.) Memory cannot be cleared if any problem exists.

After clear memory and then DIAG. terminals (1) and (3), extract from diagnosis connector (2)

YOur description doesn't ring any bells but sounds like a light warning issue - head beams, or something light that.

I got a diagnostics reading for my 1996 subaru legacy outback and got codes po183. got any answers for me?

P0183 Subaru - Fuel Temperature Sensor 'A' Circuit High Input ' Add Comment Possible causes - Faulty Fuel Temperature Sensor - Fuel Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted - Fuel Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection What does this mean? When is the code detected? An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM. Possible symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) P0183 Subaru Description The fuel tank temperature sensor is used to detect the fuel temperature inside the fuel tank. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the ECM. The modified signal returns to the ECM as the fuel temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increase this sensor is in the fuel tank on the fuel pump assembly. If you look under the carpet behind the rear passenger seat, you should see a sort of rectangular access cover. Underneath this cover is the connector to the fuel pump. Make sure that all looks good. Could just be a bad connection. Sometimes when you have the fuel filter replaced a place will unhook this connector. When it's reconnected it might not be fully seated or have a bent pin or something http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/code-po183-236198.html?s=4cf7b653edff15233184a4ded52fe754&p=5040847 25640006-5sp5orn0xnhdqraxk0v0421v-4-0.gif 25640006-5sp5orn0xnhdqraxk0v0421v-4-2.jpg

I have a 1996 subaru legacy and I need to check

The interior fuse panel should have a cover on it that has the fuses labeled by number and description, there should be a fuse labeled radio. You can use a small pair of needle nose pliers if the under hood fuse box is also missing the fuse puller. that fuse box is mounted on your right hand side in front of the washer fluid reservoir if your looking at the front of the vehicle. I hope this info helps...(subytech1)...

1996 Subaru legacy wagon 2.2 AWD leaking tranny fluid

I'm not sure about what gasket to check, but I've always left my manual tranny's connected to the transaxles and removed the axles at the transaxle. This made simpler by popping the ball joints out, thus allowing the hub assembly to swing away. Hope this helps.
