Freelander 1.8 clutch pedal height is set by the master cyl piston ram. Circlip has broken or come lose allowing the piston to come out more. FIX This is a sealed system. Cost from about £45.for system. Can be changed easly at the roadside 30 min no special tools needed
if i was you i would change the torque converter its the safest bet, the box must have been very low on oil and maybe slipping for a time to burn the oil black!!!
however you may still get away with cleaning the internal filter and just flushing the old box out with ATF and refilling it with fresh ATF oil
yes,,its been cooked up, but mine still worked for years after i cooked it up and it changed much smother after that too??
I am assuming you have a diesel as based on your description, the most likely cause is a split or crack in a turbo hose. You will also get black smoke if that is the cause.
its lost its memory ,hold key in lock and close window then holding key in closed position for 10 secs should reset the memory in the electronic control box on the window motor memory inside this control box
A very common problem this, usually due to the slightly weak clutch slave cylinder mounting plate that has weakened due to a crack and bending. See this video for how to fix it.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
dear, you need the proper timing tools for a v6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you need qite a bit of experience to do that job or when you start the engine it wont run properly.........i suggest getting a mechanic you know to help you or take it to a garage or you could end up wrecking the engine...............sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you dont get it right you gunna need a new engine
I just did the timing belts on mine; there is one main timing belt that connects to the crank, water pump, tentioner, idler, and to the intake cams on each head. The small timing belts are at each head at the rear of the head where the intake cam belts to the exhaust cams. If you pay like $30 on ALLDATAdiy.com website you can subscribe for an online repair manual for the vehicle; where they have instructions and diagrams. If you look on YOUTUBE under the search for "rover kv6 timing belt replacement" there is films on this engine.
You need to specify engine type, but the following videos of the same engine type in MG and Rover cars should help (kv6 petrol 2.5L and rover k series -only single on the last one but similar principle)
You have to jack it up and remove the underboady engine cover. Lower the vehcile and open the hood remove the engine cover. Use the jack to support the engine for underneath. you'll need to remove or swing the top passenger side engine mount. back off the tensioner from the belt. Auto Zone, Advanced Auto rents a tool if needed. Now you can change your belt!
