I hear tire on the road noise
Try gently "weaving " back and forth while you can hear the noise,if it's worse turning one way than the other, figure on a wheel bearing,if it doesn't change,it's a tire . Rotation may calm the noise down and give you some more tire life.
NEEDS A TUNE UP, DONT SEE SPARK PLUGS
Tune-ups have been long gone for 25 years now
All that is left from those days are spark plugs
I hate to tell you this, but 80% of the vehicles out
there, have had their spark plugs under the ignition
coils for about 15 years,so you have some catching
to do
You can only have have plugs in the sides of a cylinder
head where you can see them, or you can conclude you
have a hemi or top mount spark plugs & the coils are on top
Spark Plugs get replaced every 3 years
The coils you have, only last about 6 to 7 years,
then misfire & eventually ruin the exhaust converter
Your 2005 vehicle:
Should be due for the 3rd set of spark plugs
The 3rd or 4th trans & power steering fluid change (Never Flush)
MAF Sensor gets cleaned at least once a year
Every 3 years--Air Filter,Gas Filter,Cabin Filter
At 100,000 miles you replace the front Oxygen Sensors
At least twice a year you pick up a mechanic & go for a ride
You drive they look at scan tool data, fuel trim,O2,Maf etc
Engine knocking
If this has an emblem showing DOHC then the problem is likely a Cam Phaser. You can look up info on the Web by browsing 2005 Lincoln Aviator Cam Phasers. The Ford engines also use this design.
The problem is that the Phaser automatically sets timing. Your engine is probably over advanced and each side can have different timing settings. Sometimes they sound like diesel engines.
When you read more about these engines you can at least be informed and ask a few questions at repair shops.
Now you might want to have the fuel checked out. Cheap gas will make knocking sounds. There are a few products like 104 Octane boost which may help. But if someone used E85, drain the tank. The fuel is too corrosive for your car.
Aviator over heating
Sounds like the Electric cooling fan is not working. Some have 2 speeds. The fan is controlled by a water temperature sensor and there are Relays to handle the power transfers.
The water circulation is not enough to handle all of the cooling.
TAPPING IN LEFT REA QUARTER PANEL
check that it is not the fuel pump operation as it will give this noise if it is operation with some pressure in the lines.. The other source of this noise is from an automatic aerial that has a broken raising gear/ cable
Driving at 40 mph and rpms were at 6000
Well with no other info, your transmission might not be shifting. Please check fluid level and reply. Also is the check, engine light on? You may be on limp mode if it is on. Worst case you need a new transmission best case low fluid level.
Lincoln Navigator chugs/misses during
I guess the question would be,do you ever have itworked on, or just drive until it acts up,you can't live in the 1960's with todays technologyYou need to do spark plugs every 3 yearsLook at data with professional tools a coupletimes a yearOxygen sensors get replaced on all vehiclesat 100,000 milesI could list 10 more items for a startThe fact is people just don't ever do anythingbut drive vehicle, peroid & when they do act upcontinue to drive them,no testing,no road tests,no real knowledge of how to deal with repair shop& such.It just need some attention, maybe new spark plugs,a couple O2 Sensors,a couple ignition coils, all thingsyou can do yourself IF you wanted to learn the technologyIt's all there on the internet
My new car battery keeps dying over night
It takes quite a drain to discharge a battery in 8 to 10 hours. Have your charging system checked free at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys parts stores.A bad diode in an Alternator will allow a significant discharge.Other items are stuck switches for rear Window defrosters, window switches, and so forth. Air-ride systems with leaks can drain a battery trying to maintain a pumped up vehicle.Stuck Relays. When a car is started, the Relays in the Powerbox activate and supply power and grounding for different controls. When the Ignition key is turned off, the Relays are suppose to release and break the connections. If a Relay has melted its' contacts together it can not disconnect the circuit and the devices stay on draining the battery. The Dealer has a wiring machine which can be plugged in between connectors and diagnose which wires are properly connected. Hopefully you will not need this service. There are slower ways to check, but if you are paying someone to do this slower can mean more expensive.
