Hot weather makes venting the tank difficult, but the system should still let most of the fumes out. You may notice some air pressure when taking the cap off, but no liquid gas.
1984 spider 2.0 fuel pump
You should first to see if the connector and wires are properly connected to the pump itself and if it is then you should take a multimeter to see if the 10 volts are coming into the pump to see if the pump is getting enough volts to it by the use of the multimeter. Hope you know how to use a multimeter properly but if you don't that you can have someone that does know how to use one. If the pump is not getting enough of the 10 volts means that there might be a short in the wires and maybe need replaced. If the wires has a shorting out somewhere with the ground of the car.

The problem is not in the battery because it will turn over .The mechanic should check the connections of wires and the ignition system. The fuses , rotor coil, starter and stater solenoid. Most of the time when an engine has been started and stop while driving . Is that the electrical circuit problem occurs .There fore those electrical parts that are malfunctioning should be check and if destroyed or worn out it should be replaced.then also look for loose connection of wires if there are then connect it .But try to double check the alternator. that can be where the cause of the problem is.
