Cranks but wont start

This problem can be from the Inertia sensor. On Lincolns, the Inertia switch is usually close to the Air-ride cut-off switch in the trunk. Or behind a front floor kick panel. There is a reset button on the switch. Check photos on the Web if you want to see what you are looking for.

03 lin l s turn key on to start does nothing not starter or battery

Do the headlights come on? This is independent of the key. If not, you have a supply problem (fusible link, open circuit battery, etc...). Measure the voltage on the battery if you can (should be 11.5-12.5 volts DC). If lower, replace or charge the battery. If the headlights come on, then you have an ignition issue (security system, most vehicles have a transponder in the key to stop "hot-wiring" a car, or still could be a fusible link (a wire from the battery to the starter designed to fail if too much current is drawn), ignition switch, park/neutral switch (car must be in park or neutral to start)). Although if the park/neutral switch, usually all other ignition based items work fine, it just won't start.

Are the spark plugs under the top of the motor on my lincpln ls, and if so will i need a gasket to put back on when i change them

the coils act as the gasket but the valve covers can leak oil into the chamber for the sparkplugs and give driveability problems. there are gaskets for the valve covers that can correct this if you have oil in there. yes thye sparkplugs are in those recesses
