My TDi enjine broke. Can only get a Td5 replacement. Would it work? and is it the right thing to do?
I can't answer your question but there are a lot of Land Rover enthusiasts out there who could. I think you could make contact with them by visiting more specialised forums than this one.
I suspect a Td5 conversion would benefit the vehicle and yourself if it is possible.
I think there will be many small but important differences between the two models and you should do some research to discover what they are and whether it is economic to go ahead. I think just being able to source the Td5 engine will cause many complications, much time and expense.
Having a complete donor vehicle at hand is the only satisfactory way to convert two otherwise identical models. This applies just as much when the models aren't identical, even though many brackets and the exhaust system will probably have to be manufactured, wiring modified, space made for the intercooler, electronics changed over or modified and perhaps the original transmission won't be big enough to house the clutch and flywheel.
Almost any engine can be fitted to any vehicle but it is rare conversions are simple nut-and-bolt affairs and mostly some engineering is needed. Some conversions are almost entirely engineering.
One important thing to remember is it can be difficult to maintain a converted vehicle due to access problems and the difficulty of obtaining spare parts. Specially engineered parts will not be available.
Good luck!
Why does only one Highbeam work?
Try swapping the left bulb & the right bulb with each other. If the problem migrates with the bulb, then your new bulb is bad. If the problem stays at that corner of the vehicle, then you have an electrical connector issue someplace - probably between the headlights somewhere.
Defender 110 TD5 w plate. Alarm sounds when
At the moment I am working through testing electrics. Got it down to 4 areas: Light switch - causing short. Dim/ Dip relay or wiring prob. Fog relay prob or worst an alarm ecu problem. Alarm ECU works, I am told, on volt drop activation, but cant see how ECU causes lghts not to go on. So hopefully it is one of the others. At least I will know my electrics inside out after this.
Fitting rear view mirror
Hi you can buy little double sided pads to do this but make sure the cab is warm when you fit it.
Alternatively superglue but you will need to hold it in position and tape it up to dry, Pads are the better option. let me know if you need a stockist and I will post you the link.

Passenger wing mirror replacement
On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to
get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel
and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and
disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Your brake fluid has absorbed some water from the air and when the fluid gets hot, the water vaporizes. Drain the fluid from the master cylinder using a squeeze bottle and a piece of tubing, refill with new fluid from a tightly sealed container, then bleed the brakes.

Check if the injector pump solonoid is working then , with the ignition on , disconnect the power feed wire on the solonoid situated on top of the injector pump and listen for a clicking sound when you put it back.If it isn't clicking , check if there is power on the wire with a test light. If there is power then your solonoid is faulty.
