P0121 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem

The throttle position sensor is probably either damaged, dirty, unplugged, or dead. It's located on the engine. Find the throttle body - the TPS will be the little box on the side of the throttle body - it measures how far open the throttle is, and tells the computer so the computer knows how to direct the car's driving parameters (shift points, fueling, etc).

2002 elantra it wont start

did the car run before replacing the plugs? If yes then retrace your steps to see what became unhooked. If not then, I would check the fuel rail to make sure you're getting gas to the cylinders. If that's good then I'd check the coils to make sure you're getting spark. If you have a coil pack on each plug then I'd look at the ignition module.

Head lights and radio wont come on plus when I remove the negative terminal car dies. Brand new battery wont hold charge HELP!!!!

Never disconnect a battery with the engine running or when key is on. You can cause a spark (even on the negative) which can cause a battery explosion, and/or you can easily fry the fragile computerized electronics if a power surge were to occur. That being said, what you did was prove that the new alternator is not putting out any current. Check all your fuses in the power distribution box. Also, a loose or poor connection on the battery or alternator may be the problem. Check that your battery cables still appear in good shape. Check the ground for the battery, and all the engine grounds you can see. Possibly one or more of the maxi-fuses in the distribution box may have blown.Don't try jumpstarting the car. Take the battery off and have it fully charged up. Then you can resume checking for why the alternator is not working. Good luck.

On My 2002 Hyundai Elantra after 5-10 min of driving fast and hard accelaration will downshift the transmission. What can cause that,?Check engine light is not on...

Most modern automatic transmissions have a chip in them that will prevent the car from downshifting, say, into first gear when you're moving at 60 mph. Still, I wouldn't try it. When climbing a hill, only downshift if the AT can't decide which gear to be in and switches back and forth--choose the lower one. When descending use brakes to decelerate. However, once you've braked, do use a low gear to coast in, to prevent you from freely accelerating down the hill. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------GM Tech2 GM Diagnostic Scanner With C card

Stiff clutch on 2002 elantra , clutch and

FYI, the slave cylinder is pushing correctly, the clutch is the 'PULL TYPE', not the 'PUSH' type.
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register the vehicle by VIN #. You'll then have access to Shop Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Illustrations, Service Bulletins, etc.

The clutch on the 2002 Elantra, as I mentioned, is the "Pull Type". Instead of 'Pushing' on the throw-out bearing, it "Pulls" on it. The pressure plate engages when the bearing is released (when it is 'pulled' back into the pressure plate 'fingers'

Was the new trans & clutch installed at an authorized Hyundai Service Department? If not, you might want to have them inspect the installation to determine what's wrong. If it WAS installed by a Hyundai Service Dept, take it back to them & tell them to FIX IT!
