Disco 2 windsreen washers not working
check to see if your wipers work, if so then it's not a switch. Does the rear spray and wiper work also. It could be a bad washer pump located in the washer bottle, or a clogged line to your front wipers.
Land Rover 3.9 V8i Cooling Problem
Pressure test the system, it sounds like head gaskets that is backing into the water jackets and not the oil ports, which is the best of the two. Have heads checked for cracks of warping.

How do you you lock or unlock 4wd on a 2000 land
The 1996 discovery is full time 4wd and can only be changed from high to low range using the transfer case shifter with the truck in neutral rolling between 1-5mph. you can also move the same lever left to right to engage the transfer case diff lock
The generator sometimes charges the battery and
If you have an actual generator, then the generator controller / relay is bad. But, with your car being 1996, this is likely an alternator with internal voltage regulator. Alternator was already replaced (that aint cheap!), so we can rule out that. For an intermittent charge condition, look for the negative grounding strap that goes to the engine block. You will probably find that it is dirty and loose. If that seems to be okay, then take a look at the power lead that comes from the alternator (big thick one) and goes to the battery. Along the length, probably closer to the battery, there is probably a fusible link that has just barely melted through. By that I mean that the link has melted in two pieces, but the 2 ends are close enough together that they can still make contact. Think of the link as a big fuse. If you don't have a link, you may have an inline fuse somewhere as well, possibly in the fuse block under the hood. A loose fuse here would cause the same condition, and a fuse can also partially melt as well.
Timing belt/chain
This engine has a timing belt.Once you have removed the engine front cover , turn the engine to the marks as shown in the diagram.Lock the crankshaft in this position with an old reverse light switch from the gearbox by inserting it into the hole under the bell housing (manual transmission). Before removing the belt , loosen 3 bolts on the injector pump after you locked this with a 8.5 mm drill bit.Replace the belt and pull the tensioner to 16 Nm.If you are fitting a whole pulley replacement kit take note of the upgraded spacers and their position.
Dont forget to tighten the injector pump bolts again after you tensioned the belt and recheck your timing marks.
My 1998 Series 1 Discovery
This is issue with the IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve, i also had the same problem, I got it it cleaned but after 2 weeks the problem came back again. Now that i have replaced the ICA valve it is working fine.
Firstly get it cleaned, that will also confirm it is issue with the same.
