How do I replace the gasket and transmission oil

simply unbolt the trans pan under the trans and the oil falls to the ground... clean the pan with clean rag. get all old gasket off.. place new gasket in and bolt the pan back into place. tighten the bolts to around 7 lbs. do not over tighten the bolt, you could strip the threds. put new trans fluid in through the dip stick hole that you check the level.

Will it damage the car if I have a slow

My guess would depend on how bad the transmission leak is. If you notice a couple of drips in your vehicle's parking space overnight then, no It won't damage the transmission to drive it. However if there is a steady stream of transmission fluid when you are driving then, no don't drive it until the leak is repaired.

It's over heating, but coolant level is good.

Follow your radiator hose to the engine block. You'll come to a housing attached to the hose with 2 bolts holding it on. You'll have to drain your coolant, remove the radiator hose and remove the retaining bolts on the housing, then remove your thermostat. Installation is in reverse of removal. Make sure to top off your coolant level and recheck after engine reaches temp.

3000 rpm? This is pretty high for idle. You need to have the stored code read from the ECM. Usually this is a simple O2 sensor but with it racing to 3000 rpm I would have this diagnosed by a tech at a shop.
