Car overheating when going up hills or giving it some stick

First of all, if it were a head gasket, it would most likely overheat just idling in neutral. There are many possible causes for engine overheating (i.e., low coolant level, ineffieciency in the water pump, clogged radiator, malfunctioning thermostat, malfunctioning coolant temperature sensor lying to you, poor connections in wiring, bad ground circuit. etc. The multitude of possible causes are too many to discuss here. Take your vehicle in to a Hyundai Service Center and pay the diagnostic fee to determine EXACTLY what's causing the problem. They'll give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc).. This way you'll know EXACTLY what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

I have a humming sound coming from my engine.

Without actually HEARING the sound you mention, diagnosis is IMPOSSIBLE here. Take it in to service department - pay the diagnostic fee, they'll give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc). This way you'll know exactly what's wrong and what's required to fix it.

Car seems as though it wants to start but wont. PUT GAS IN IT WAS WONDERING IF THE FILTER WAS GLOGED

Not enough information to diagnose your problem. Take vehicle to Hyundai Service Center.... pay diagnostic fee, they will, in turn, diagnose the problem, give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc). This way you'll know exactly what's wrong.. you can decide from there.

1996 Hyundai temp issues.

I have had exatly the same problem with our Lantra, the issue can be two fold, the fan switch which is located next to the temperuture sender(has two wires going to it) can be faulty, I used an electrical splicer that has a metal piece in to short out the two wire, this solved problem one of power to the fans.

Part two was the fact that this was caused by one of the fans (main Fan) stopping, as the motor on this is a sealed unit, you will need to get a replacement fan if this is the issue.

But if you short out the two wire from the switch when the engine is hot, this will tell you wether you need to go further.

Hope this helps

Replacing the fuel pump on a 96 Hyundai Elantra

replacing the fuel pump can be a diffecult task. just be careful. i believe that if you remove the rear seat there should be an access panel there to remove the fuel pump. if not than you will have to remove the gas tank. if you have to remove the gas tank then you shou have a shop do it for you.

hope this helped

Hyundai Elantra Antifreeze Leak

if the fan NEVER comes on anymore, then that's why your engine is getting hot. You need to figure out if the fan switch relay is bad, or if the motor on the fan is bad, or something in the electrical system with the fan is not working. if the temp. sensor wasn't working, then your guage wouldn't work. I would never have used any type of stop leak in an engine cause it can clog up your return ports from your engine's cooling system and then you have real problems later with your engine. There is so much to have to check with this vehicle to see what's the problem. However, you can check to see if the fan motor works, by unplugging the fan electrical plug, and using a direct wire from your battery to give it electricity to it directly, if it comes on, then the motor isn't the problem, it's something else like a relay or something. you can also use a test light to check the plug for the fan coming from the engine to see if it's getting any electricity to it with the key turn on, just plug in the test light to each wire in the harness coming from the engine, and making sure you have a good ground connection your tester by clipping the tester to the neg battery cable, then touch each wire to see if either of them light up the tester. if they don't, then you are NOT getting fire(electricity) to the fan through the wiring which could indicate a fan relay gone bad, broken wire someplace or burned wire someplace. Takes alot to track down electrical stuff, takes time, alot of knowledge and patience. i would take your car to the dealer, unless you know a really good shop that does this kinda work. You need to be informed of this though....YOUR HEAD ON YOUR ENGINE IS MADE OF ALUMINUM AND IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH OVERHEAT TO WARP IT AND CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO PAY OUT ON . SO DON'T KEEP DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL IT HAPPENS. GET IT TO A SHOP AND MAKE SURE THEY TEST THE HEAD FOR LEAKING WATER AND LET THEM KNOW IT'S RUN IN THE RED BEFORE.... THAT'S A NO NO FOR ALUMINUM HEADS... WILL WARP THEM IN A HEARTBEAT. GOOD LUCK.
