The car was running fine,but

May be a bad ground to the relay, but the code for the bad ground to the e c m,most likely is the knock sensor, not plugged up ,or bad,or the o2 sensor is not grounded,or bad. Some times the e c m will go out upon removing and unplugging things, but I don`t really think, that this is the case.Check the oil pressure switch,it is in circuit for the fuel pump relay. It can cause ,an off,and on,start situation .But the e c m,no ground, usually means the e c m is gone out.Make sure of good tight connections on the knock sensor, and the o2,these ,if loose, can cause the e c m to go out,it doesn`t take much on a loose connection,to kill a computer.I hope this shed some light on the situation. If so,please let us know, thank you.

How do i install a power steering pump on my 1990

if you are going to replace the pump, also replace the two hoses to and from the pump. first remove the belt. then you will need a wheel puller to remove the pulley off the front of the pump. then the pump is held on by 2 or 3 bolts.

My Lincoln Towncar is having a problem starting

Check a spark plug wire fire spark (Autozone has a tool to do this safely for around $10) if no spark test the input wire at the coil, if there is power at the input plug (red wire) Replace the coil!

I have a 1995 lincoln town car that will start and

Try a couple of things. Disconnect the battery terminal for 10 minutes to see if system reboots better. Use the Keypad and enter the Security code on the door before trying to start it.

If it were driveable I would say to go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. If the car does this several times it would not be the Inertia switch.

It would help if you could determine if you are losing spark or fuel to the engine. The only bolt-on part that controls both is the TPS, Throttle Position Switch. It is located on the drivers side of the airhorn behind all the air filter ductwork. It is the size of a cigarette lighter and has 2 screws and 1 electric connection.

The clock, speedometer, gas gauge, etc.. won't work.

No need to say you obviously created a short circuit when you installed the radio and something got fried.
Could be the dimmer, you could try to bypass that but in all honestly I think it is best left up to a pro.

My 1990 Town Car auto tranny slips in overdrive

There are both bands and clutches in your transmission and likely you have an internal pressure loss that is affecting overdrive. Repair cost i can't give you but being as old as it is likely you can get an identical vehicle for what it will cost to repair. You may be able to prolong the inevitable by using a conditioner such as lucas,(only one I've seen that actually does help in some cases) but it can't fix what is worn, so even if it works better, it will only be temporary. I know that isn't exactly what you wanted to hear but that's the way it is.

Air Suspension system Problem 1990 Lincoln Towncar

Unplugging the Connector will cause the Check Suspension light to come on as its listed as a fault as it cant run.

But with it unplugged the compressor shouldnt been able to start. If you want to kill the compressor pull its relay from the engine bay. located above the battery.

But i'd suggest correcting the fault as if those bags do pop your going to end up being grounded. as the rear will drop a fair bit!

Check air suspension system problem

sounds like one of the rear air bags is leaking and if you get under car and spray with soapy water from spray bottle you can find leak and replace bag or line that is leaking. turning off the pump is not a good idea the rear bags will deflate and cause the car to ride too low and cause damage bottoming out. also if the leak is not fixed soon the air compressor will run too constantly and burn out/wear out and very expansive to replace.
