Sounds like a totally shorted out battery. Remove battery from car and take to Auto Store or Battery Place and have it checked. Rich

it is a relay that normally doesnt fail,if none of your windows work quite often the master switch has gone bad

Never mind air suspension put coil spring from 1990 towncar did that many time not as soft but prety close

Its not very important fluid will still go to the heater core

then the obvious thing to do would be to replace it

The reason for both problems may be the same thing.....the brake light switch. You must press the brake pedal in order for the shifter solenoid to release the shift lever. This action also lights the brakes lights. If the brake light switch is faulty or out of adjustment, neither will work. Under the dash on the drivers side, follow the brake pedal arm upward towards the dashboard. somewhere near the top of the arm will be a switch that rests against the arm. When you press the pedal downward, the arm swings away from the switch and the switch closes. If the switch is faulty, this won't happen.

Could be the shift lock solenoid, or the brake switch. You should be able to shift out of park by turning the key to the unlock position but not all the way to the on position. Make sure the parking brake is applied. You can then start the engine in neutral.

NO Question about it the heater core is bad

IT'S your antifreeze it dosn't last for ever. A Lincolin has a vary large block and cooling system . Yours is an 98 thats means its 17 years old.. It might be time to flush this system check the raditaor and heater core water pump ECT .

Not that it is impossible for the fan to got bad but I don't think this is it. I would look into a fuse or a relay to be the suspect here. May be a temp sensor that is bad as well not sending the signal to the fan to turn on.

When you unhooked the battery it should've reset itself automatically. You may have to go in the trunk and reset the airbag control switch if the rear airbags don't air up on their own.

can you be a little more specific about how and when? are you driving? or is it happening when you shift out of park? do you hit bumps or when you turn on accessories EX. heater, headlights all the dash lights come on because the car is stalling this is the same as when you first turn your key to the on position the computer goes into self test to see if everything is working before you start the car all dash lights come on and then will go out once your car starts unless there's a problem then that light will stay lit to tell you that theirs something wrong with that device EX. brakes, airbag, check engine etc.so a little more info will be very helpful to find the problem

Its most likely a bad ABS (anti-lock brake system) speed sensor. ABS pump or modulator assembly. When the light is on, your vehicle does not have the benefit of the ABS and traction control features.

U need to check your crankcase starting sensor. OR it could be a fuel problem. Usually fuel pump doesn't allow the car to start at all. So it shouldn't be that. But it could be an extremely clogged filter.

Check the stator on distributer that a tooth isnt missing from the spline ck the timing and mixture .

I think it could be a bad converter or a coil pack getting weak . I've had both issues on the 4.6 and the 5.4 ....to check the converter run it hard when it is up to temperature ( best to do it when it close to dark) pull over look under the car and see if one looks to be glowing red if so it is clogged. Coil packs are not cheap and hard to narrow down which one is bad but go to rock auto.com and you can all 8 for the price of 3 them .
When posting on here if you can inform us of the codes that was pulled it would be helpful.

Forget the PO316 and 1st 1000 Rev,that is a Ford thing

No other PO Codes? PO 305 for cyl #5?

If you have individual coils (COP Ignition )
one is bad. Last number of a 300 code is the cyl
maybe. Unless it is really bad,then get back here

The compressor is next to the air box on the driver side under a plastic cover. One plug, two hoses and 3 bolts that hold it down. The hose on the top of the compressor is a quick release. Push in hose and hold red ring at bottom, and it should pull right out

Pretty big job but has to be replaced asap. The fumes/vapors from the heater core will eventually come though the registrars and make you sick and mentally affected. If the floor board is wet under carpet, inside front windshield has oily, hard to get off residue and/or sour bittersweet smell; it's already affecting you if you spend much time in the car. Headaches, blurred vision, anger, dark circles under eyes. The heater core going bad is a common thing for Lincoln Towncars. It will cost around $600 to have repaired and about 6 hours. Also FYI, intake manifold recall for repair has expired for most Towncars but it should be looked at for leaks. The factory installed plastic gasget warps.
