the car was running a little rough at idle, and the check engine light came on...I added fuel injector cleaner, so the engine is running smoothly now, but the check engine light is still on...how do I diagnose and reset the light
Go to Wal-Mart or Auotparts store and buy SEAFOAM. This will clean & clear the crud off of your O2-sensor. This should strighten your problem.

O.K. here we go. Noticed poor Idle and bad (worse ) gas milage in local driving. Took car in for survice before vacation to S California had rough idle checked and engine miss checked. Was told no codes. Drove over the grape vine to LA car had so little power had to shift out of overdrive on approach to the big hill. Lower gears only over hill with car missing intermidently. Milage bad. Usully got 18 to 20 on road was getting 16. on return home took car to ford again still no codes but cop was replaced on one cylinder. Better but still miss and no power. returned to dealer. Dealer did compression and leakdown and you guessed it bad head #7 and #8 cylnder. Still no codes. Now with new head and one or more new coils Idle is still rough, and I still have an engine miss after the car has been driven for 30 min or more. Engine misseds on transition from no throttle to light throttle, and between 50 and 65 miles per hour on light throttle as in going up a slight incline and trying to maintain speed. Engine feels like it is light on torque (shifts more frequently than it used to) and uses 15 to 20% more fuel than before problems began.... still no codes! Dealer called Ford tech. and didn't get any help.So I have an Aviator that has 38000 miles on it, and will be out of warrantee as soon as the current work ticket is closed, and ford can't fix it. ANY ideas on what the poblem might be or any one with simular prob to point me in the right direction will be GREATLY appreciated.
I HAVET HE SAME PROBLEM WITH HEAD # 7, THEY SAY I NEED A NEW ENGINE? $ 5000, DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO?

My third-row bench recently got stuck. It comes about 1/3 of the way up, but then feels like it's hitting something and won't come the rest of the way up. We've taken off the slider and don't see anything it would be hitting. Any recommendations?
check for seat belt stuck in crack between seats back and cushion.
remove seat cusion to see if soemthing is stuck. see owner manual for directions. here's explorer

How do I remove the headlight assembly to replace the bulb?
Open hood and remove the radiator site shield and the air delector on top of the headlamp assembly. You will then see 2 clips that you will pull up and then remove the headlamp assembly.

Does anyone have a drawing for the installation of my 2003 lincoln aviator serpentine belt? It is not labeled under the hood or anywhere by the engine.
There are 2 possible diagrams depending on if you have a 4.6L SOHC or a 4.6L DOHC. This information should be on the plate under the hood. Best of luck!

Where does the crankshaft position sesor go on a lincoln aviator 03?
The crankshaft sensor sit between the a/c compr and the crankshaft pulley, sensor bolts to the side of timing chain cover, only 1 bolt holds it in place, only one, disconnect sensor harness, remove 10 or 8 mm bolt, sensor will slide right out. Hope this was very helpful.
Crankshaft sensor is the one to the right of a/c compr.

have 2005 lincoln aviator - has miss at 30-55 MPH - no codes replaced all coils ( ford) & spark plugs (twice) - repair vacuum leak at PCV Still misses -- no codes -- help
The COPS (coils) may have shorted the drivers in the PCM (computer). You should get a misfire code for each cylinder misfiring though.
Slim possibility, but very expensive unless you have a service contract.

The owners manual tells us that the turn signal relay is located, (quote) on the reverse side of the passenger compartment fuse panel. Where's That? I couldn't find it.
the passenger side fuse compart ment is lower dash and will have a lid/door that will prise off the reverse side means behind the fuse block so will have to locat the securing screws for the fuse block and remove to get access to the flasher relay. As an after thought around that year the passenger side fuse compartment was resited to the end of the dash , the bit that gets hidden when door shut so have a look there procedure will be the same . I also have a contrdictary position for the flasher relay if you follow this link it will tell you another place to look , cars can be very frustrating
