Some times cooling fan will not start and the car
think you might have a problem with the connection to the thermostat switch, the connection pins may be lose. and need replacing. they need to be a tight fit on the poles for the connection or they overheat and expand. then they don't connect.

Why would the transmission get stuck in neutral while in drive
Because it is worn out & fluid may have never
been changed or only once every 100,000 miles,
instead of every 3 years, as required, to possibly
avoid what you have or complete failure
Doubt your drive with the original trans since 1995,
but time for a rebuild or at least find out what
is wrong with it
Can not guess at problems from the internet,
have to road test & component test a vehicle to
find a problem

Where is the ignition fuse located
Check with your owner's manual for fuse box location. Many car makers have an imprint on the bottom of the fuse box cover stating which each bank controls.

Will not shift out of park
On the right hand side if the gear selector is a black cover you can remove it with the tip of a key. If you have one insert a key or something that can push that button in there, it over rides the shift interlock mechanism, You have a shift interlock failure this can be from a brake switch or the solenoid itself

Engine speed decrease when stert
IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IDLE SPEED TOO LOW. IDLE SPEED SHOULD BE 750 - 850 RPM. IDLE SPEED NEED TO BE CORRECT OR IT WILL CAUSE ENGINE RUN ROUGH OR STALL OUT.AC COMPRESSOR WILL TAKE SOME POWER FROM ENGINE WHEN AC IS OPERATING.

Engine speed decrease when start
That's normal. When you have a 4 cylinder, this can be expected. Most people just turn the ac off when they want to pass someone. The ac compressor just puts a load on the engine in low power/torque apllications like a kia 4 cylinder.
