1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Water is leaking behind fuse box in the corner behind pedals on drivers side.

Question edited for clarity, year make model first, 'petal' to 'pedal'. Question moved to model category. I have seen a video where dirt and leaves build up in the well that is under where the windscreen wipers emerge from, back of the engine bay. There are other ideas in videos here https://www.google.com/search?q=1991+Jeep+Cherokee+Laredo.+Water+is+leaking+behind+fuse+box+in+the+corner+behind+pedals ..

Jeep did start it did take a little turnning over to start but now it won't start at all it stalled if it was cold when you put it in gear. when i frist got this jeep the check engine lite was on but

Sounds like a faulty fuel pump, engine will run on 40 psi of fuel pressure but requires 60 to 70 psi to start if engine has fuel injection. hope this helps.

Grand Cherokee stalls when parked in idle or starting through intersection?

I would suggest a fuel pressure test to see if you are getting enough fuel to the engine. If not, then you either have a plugged fuel filter or a failing fuel pump. If you have adequate pressure then something is going on with the fuel injectors.

Paul Thanks for the info. Also I have replaced just about every part on this car and can not figure out why it runs for about 30 minutes then shuts off. What else can be wrong.

There are several thing that cause the engine to die. #1 Electrical Install a spark noid on plug wire this lights up as the plug gets it power if this signal is lost then test the crank shaft sensor L-6 engine located on drivers side of engine at transmission just to the left of master cylinder V-8 engines it is just behind the passenger cylinder head . #2 Fuel pump control test for fuel pressure at service port about 36 psi running and as you rev the engine it should go up 40-45 psi and when shut off it should retain pressure above 30 psi when dies check pressure loss of pressure could be due to fuel pump relay is bad #3 just the fuel pump is shutting off.

Engine temp sensor bypass or test

WHAT SIZE ENGINE???? ? 4L 2.5L???? ive seen this post many times now.and can not figure it out. double posted. what are you trying to do, say that first. or just ask a question first off, what does bypass mean???? <<very confusing to me...???? This is THE ECT, the ENGINE. Coolant Temperature" sensor. what do you wish to do with this very critical EFI sensor.??????? just test it.> Ill guess, you have not read the FSM , as it covers that 2 ways. the ECT can be tested 3 ways. ill show 2 1: on car and off car. 1: on car. (is more easy. if strong back) DMM set to RESISTANCE , aka. ohms. ohmega symbol the DMM meter is $20 at walfart. cold car, say at about 50f. you unplug the ECT connector (2 pin conn) cold engine it might read, 5000 ohm, this is good, get engine fully hot. i use a IR pyro gun, it hit 180F or more. and kill engine. pull back off the ECT sensor. conn. and it reads (2 pins 2 meter leads) about 300 ohms. is this what you want. first google hit on sensor , but FSM shows truth.... 1st hit shows....... its a NTC thermistor with these rules. 212 farenheit 185 ohms 160 farenheit 450 ohms 100 farenheit 1600 ohms 70 farenheit 3400 ohms 40 farenheit 7500 ohms 20 farenheit 13,500 ohms 0 farenheit 25,000 ohms -40 farenheit 100,700 ohms the FSM is here the 93 will be close. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service click fuse system there. click on pdf page number. 46/66 BINGO ECT TESTS> off car tests are easy, in a pan of room temp water then hot the in ice water. i do 3 tests. 32F(ice) 79F (room) and 200F (near boiling) super easy test. ask how. if any step seems confusing.

Remove steering column

why not say reason.. ??? is the actual shaft bad, or just swapping out the whole thing.> with igntion switch and combo switch? the whole inside parts? are you removing the steering wheel ? first hard part is air bags, very dangerous. and the coil spring, in wheel hub. easy to damage that. first off major work , you need the FSM. why not get it and read it. if no bags , good. easier. the other issue is the there are 3 critical steps. 1: Bags. 2: ignition switch assy, anthieft screws. 3: collapsible shaft, possible damage. 4: the steering wheel puller and steps. the FSM covers each separately. wheel. quote
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the air bag system.
  2. Set the front tires in a straight-ahead position.
  1. Remove the air bag module retaining nuts from behind the steering wheel.
  2. Remove the air bag module. Defeated first !!!!
  3. If equipped, remove the cruise control switch.
  4. Disconnect the horn wiring.
  5. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut.
  6. Scribe a line mark on the steering wheel and steering shaft if there is not one already.
  7. Remove the steering wheel using a suitable puller.
  8. the palm smacking trick can get the wheel off if lucky.
To install:
  1. To install, align the scribe marks on the steering shaft with the steering wheel.
  2. Ensure the wheel compresses the 2 locktabs on the clockspring.
  3. Pull the air bag and if equipped, cruise control wires through the larger hole and horn wire through the smaller hole. Ensure they are not pinched.
  4. Install the steering wheel nut and tighten it to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm) while forcing the steering wheel down the shaft with the nut.
  5. Connect the wire feed to the horn buttons.
  6. Connect the feed wires and tighten the air bag retaining nuts to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Ensure the air bag is completely seated. The latching clip arms must be visible on top of the connector housing on the module.
  7. Enable the air bag system and connect the battery cable.
  8. From the right side of the vehicle (in case of accidental deployment), turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  9. Check for proper air bag warning light operation.
end quote, get the FSM. there are many more pages, for the COMBO section, and shaft.
