One brake light won't come on but both running lights work. is it a fuse or bulb problem?

Hi Sean, it could be either. A lot of rear lights use a twin element bulb. One element for running lights and another stronger element for the brake light. Only way to know is to look at the bulb. You should be able to clearly see if the element is blown as it wont be a complete wire from one pin to the other inside the bulb.

Car will only move forward on higher rpm but reverse is normal.

Transmission failure. Check fluid level and quality. You may try servicing the transmission by changing the fluid and filter, but it may need a transmission rebuild.

Looking for shift Solenoid from cod P0773

It is in the transmission case. It is not a complex repair but the trans pan has to come off, and for this a hoist is best if you can access one. You may as well replace the internal filter too. http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/ax1.pdf

ABS light stays on if car is started with parking brake engaged.

The ABS light illuminates when there is an "out of specification" condition. From your description, it sounds like your parking brake cable may require tightening, or there may be an issue where the rear brakes are not properly releasing when the parking brake is released. With car that is nearly 20 years old, it is not inconceivable that the rear brakes and parking brake assembly may require regular service. A good first step would be to have error codes read out by a local mechanic or auto parts store. This may give you a better indication of the specific problem. In any case, ANY brake warning should be taken VERY SERIOUSLY and corrected IMMEDIATELY, as you may have a potentially dangerous potential of catastrophic brake failure. PLEASE GET THE ISSUE FIXED RIGHT AWAY!

If the transmission in a 1998 Toyota Camry is failingwill that cause the motor to misfire

Generally no, it will not. A failing trans will cause bad shifting, hard shifting, slippage in gear, but not misfiring. Get a readout from your ECU to see if any trouble codes are held.

How do you reset a non original radio 1998 camry

Wandm mmy friend it would be a major help if you could tell me the make and model of your radio. I will say this, most aftermarket radios have a 3 shot counter. What that means is after 3tmes youll have to let it sit with the key on(acc) for usually. 2to3hours before it will accept anymore attemps.

I had someone change the radio in my 1998 camry and it did work. My battery went dead, dead and once I replaced battery the radio now doesn't work. Why>

Car radios have security codes to prevent them from being stolen. If they lose power, such as when replacing the battery, they lock out. This makes them worthless to anyone trying to steal them. You need to have the unlock code to reactivate the radio. It is provided with the vehicle at purchase, or by the retailer when selling replacements

Are 98 camry and 02 camry engines interchangeable?

I would have to say no. in 2002 the change the electronics and maybe other stuff. and there is 2 different engines you didn't add that. the blocks might be the same but you would have to change a lot of parts to make it work with the different engine management system

Wont start have changed the crank and cam shaft senior still just turns over

Did you change the sensors yourself? If you did you need to reset the computer. Disconnect the both cables from the battery. Hold them together for 3 minutes. This will discharge the memory in the engine control module. Reconnect the battery and start the car. Let it run for a few minutes then drive the car so the computer will "learn" the new sensors. If the engine still won't start then there is another problem such as fuel pump or not enough fuel pressure to the injectors.

How to replace fuel filter?

You don't really need to as there is no specified replacement interval for your engine. In addition Camrys are notorious for having a very tight connection on the bottom of the filter, which is difficult to get at. The filter is on the LH side of the engine bay next to the strut tower, in front of the charcoal canister. It is easier if you first remove the air cleaner box. Then remove the top banjo connection and bracket. Get a good fitting flare nut wrench onto the bottom nut and brace it tightly against something. You may need to pack the wrench in place with a few bits of timber. Then use the hex nut formed on top of the filter to turn and remove it. There will be a great crack as it comes loose. On replacement check carefully for leaks while the ignition is turned on.
