Why does my 1997 Rav 4x4 slip out of 5th gear on

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. This is very common in these types of vehicles. Since it only slips out, I would say you are missing a few teeth for 5th gear. You will probably need to get it changed. Where the teeth are missing, it would allow the gear to shift back into neutral. I knew a skilled mechanic that changed 5th gear before without taking off the transmission, so that may be an option. Otherwise, you will need to take it to a tranny shop.

Inner ceiling is all worn

you are going to have to find a local upholstery shop and get a price for the ceiling. you have to remove the whole panel, clean it well, put on a new layer of glue, and a new surface then reinstall the panel. this will most likely cost more than the 500 dollar value of the car and will not cause its value to go up by one cent. so you may just want to get in there and scrape it as clean as you can to get the old ceiling and adhesive out and then live with it. pretty minor.

squealing brakes means either they are worn out or the last person who did the brakes did not put any quiet goop between the back of the pads and the piston.

Auto won't down shift when

This button only makes the gearbox change from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd, will not down shift in any other gear, make sure it is in 4th gear, usually above 60km, than press o/d off it should go into 3rd gear, if it does not than see a automatic specialist, it is usually a sensor, if you go to Toyota they will charge you a fair bit.

THEREMOSAT LOCATION FOR REPLACEMENT IN

Follow the top of the largest hose from the radiator to the intake manifold. In most cases, the thermostat will be located on the front of the block just before the intake manifold. Look for a bulbous aluminum or steel connector to which the hose will connect via hose clamp. Inside that apparatus will be the thermostat. Should be two bolts on either side of the hose and the connector will come off. Because of the heat produced, you may have to pry it off, but it should come off easily. Make sure to replace the gasket and use permatex to seal it properly. Ten minute job once you find the location

Good morning, I have a

Personally i donot think you need to put the four point plugs in your car. That would just increase your fuel consumption a bit as it would be burning more fuel to give u the advance pickup. You really donot need that.Put single point Champion plugs, they are really good. Then Bosch, Denso or NGK come in line.get the distributor rotor clean so that strong current goes to the plugs and its all set.On average the SUVs the size of your car would give 7kms on a litre petrol in an average traffic city drive with Air conditioner switched on.You can convert that into milage per gallon.Milage generally increaes by 25-30% without the airconditioner.
