Which is the fuse that the central locking is controlled by? Mine's cut out and my garage say it's probably the fuse, so I'd like a chance to replace it before I take it in. The diagram on the fusebox cover is less than specific on this, and the manual tells you to refer to the fusebox cover (helpfully!).

Timing Belt broke while driving my 96 Toyota Rav4, 2 wheel drive. Mechanic said that Rav has a zero tolerance engine and engine will need to be replaced. The timing belt has 55,000 miles on it and we were planning on replacing soon. Rav has been running great before this. Very sad and need advice!
Zero tolerance means the valves may have hit the piston when the timing belt broke. I would suggest doing a cylinder leakage test to see if the valves are bent or not. If the valves are not bent then you can replace the belt and everything will be ok. If there are bent valves then the cylinder heads will need to be removed and repaired.

The alarm has drained the battery. I am charging the battery now. Whenever I open the door, the alarm goes off and I have to disconnect the charger until it stops going off. I can't turn the alarm off with the key fob button thingy. Is there a way for me to disable the alarm? Is there a fuse that I can remove until I can get this fixed?
yeah. disconnect the battery, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the ON position. leave the driver's side door open, and reconnect the battery. the alarm will chirp a few times while you're putting the battery back on, but this SHOULD work.
you might as well go ahead and take the battery out of the remote for the alarm as well, to make sure its not setting your alarm off as well. you can replace the battery in the remote once the battery is reconnected in the vehicle. the remote might need to be reprogrammed if the alarm goes off again, otherwise its time to go to the toyota dealership!
!!WARNING!! make sure the key isnt in the position to START the vehicle, you just want the key ON. make sure that nothing else in the vehicle is on, and also, be VERY careful when reconnection the battery, as it will spark when it makes its connection. if you have been charging the batter a lot, make sure to give the battery time to cool down, because when car batteries get hot, they emit hydrogen, which is explosive. this IS a risky move, but is the only thing you can do, unless you either install a kill-switch or charge the battery and drive to the dealership while the alarm is going off. sometimes, when you start the vehicle, the alarm will stop, but im assuming this isnt your case.

LOCATION OF 1996 RAV4 THERMOSTAT FOR REPLACEMENT
It is at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. In the picture below it is number 15, below the thermostat cover, number 13 and gasket, number 14. This is a picture of your 1996 Toyota RAV4 cooling system.

toyota rav 4 central locking doesnt work. where is the fuse for it plse
it is the gauge fuse and it is located on the d-side lower dash panel under steering wheel. it should have a little panel access door that will pull off to see the fuse block or you might have to take the lower panel off the cover or owners manual should show you which one is the gauge fuse. if i can help in any way give more info and when this occured.this is what controls the locking diff power by the wiring diagram and make sure the fuse has 12volts on it.....good luck and let me know if i was any help to you..........

how to replace clutch step by step on a toyota rav4 4wd
You need some very specialized tools to do that You'll need a jack to hold the transfer case once you remove all the bolts holding it to the transmission. Remove the drive shafts. Then you'll need to remove the transmission, again with a supporting jack. Once that has been accomplished , remove the bolts holding the clutch to the flywheel. I'd replace the pilot bearing in the flywheel that holds the input shaft to the gearbox before proceeding. There are special tools available to do that. Now assemble the clutch disk and the clutch plate and put the bolts back in without tightening them. Now take the clutch alignment tool and push it thru the clutch disk and into the new pilot bearing. position it so the clutch disk is dead center in the clutch plate and then finish tightening the bolts Put a new throw out bearing on the clutch release lever and reinstall the transmission and transfer case. Reinstall the drive shafts and replace any gear oil that may have spilled out of the transmission or transfer case. Adjust the clutch pedal clearance to spec and you're done.

What does ECT-S MANU light shows on dash board for RAV-4 mean
It's a feature of the transmission to hold it in gear manually, then it will not shift automatically like when climbing a hill in the mountains.
