e most common problem is the spring on the fuel door breaks off. Have someone pull on the release cable handle, insert a credit card or something like that under the edge of the gas door, see if it will open that way. If it opens, look at the hinged end, you will probably see a piece of plastic, which holds a piece of bent springy metal. If the bent piece of metal is missing, you need to buy another at a Toyota dealer parts dept. If the bent piece of metal IS there, bend it further open to increase the tension. Try this, & if neither helps, get back to me for further info.

Brake, ABS, VSC, trac lights all on intermittently - 2006 RAV4

Hi. Here are the trouble codes I received...C0210, C1223, C1238 and C1249. Dealer said they will "start" with replacing right rear speed sensor inside hub to the tune of about 750.00. I guess the car is safe to drive. I had the front brakes done (pads only, rotors okay) recently but these lights were coming on before that.
Does anyone else have this problem and is the above repair my only option?
Thanks for your input.

I am having a multiple cylinder misfire on my 2006 Toyota RAV4 with the 3.5L V6. Every cylinder is reporting a mifire. Each cylinder has it's own coil. I highly doubt that all 6 coils went bad at once. Does anyone have any idea what my be causing this?? Is that the problem you two are having?

I have fixed this at the mexican way, but really cheap and effective, I had same issue with my rav4 2006, and the velcro magic fix it, let me tell you that u need to obtain the one from lowe's/home depot original "velcro" strip 4"x 2" industrial strenght. stick both part separately and let them cure for 24hrs, without being together, 24hrs later, close the visor, as you normally do, that is the only way it will have the contact force enuff to keep visor up. I tried before with cheaper velcro alternatives, and did not work, hope this helps

2006 RAV4 V6 multiple cylinder misfire, VSC, check engine and sli

Check Engine, Slip indicator and VSC light all on and random multiple cylinder misfires. All 6 cylinders are affected. Does anyone know what this could be?? It's a 2006 Toyota RAV4 3.5L V6.

You need a scanner to pull out the engine light codes.
Use a shopu manual to aid you with the diagnosis and repair.
The slip indicator and vsc light being on means these systems are not working. Once you pull the codes and do the repair and erase the codes the lights will go off.
There will be a code in there for the misfiring.
Good luck and keep me posted.

2006 Rav4 2.4 serpentine belt

2006 Rav4 2.4 serpentine belt change has kicked my collective psyche enough to question my shadetree abilities. Why can't I locate the connection point for the belt tool (besides there being only 3/4" clearance)? Any suggestions would be appreciated except the $200 the dealer wants to do the job?

I had to take out the passenger side Engine mount out which will give you more room to access the tensioner nut which is a 19mm. but you will have to be really careful because when you release the tension if you dont do it right you mite end up breaking the tensioner nut which is aluminium and you will have to end up putting a new tensioner assembly along with the belt.

vsc code c1336

vsc code c1336

That code relates to a crankshaft position sensor signal. It you have a check engine light come it disables the VSC and Trac system. Until you get that sensor fixed the VSC and the TRAC system will be inop. So whenever you have a check engine light come on that is what you will see. Even though you cancel the check engine light the fault still exists and the VSC/ TRAC light will come back on. That is a sure way to tell that something is wrong.

What is a "Help" tester??
Use an OBD2 sacnner and read to DTC?
Why did you unplug or R/R the ECU in the first place.
With just the information you provide your problem might be in the wiringharness or a bad ecu..
