Tip & How-To about 1991 GMC K1500

Why your old truck keeps (or doesnt) running

It cannot be stressed enough, that basic routine maintence is the best way to prolong the life of any car or truck. The sad fact is people overlook some of the most important parts of maintence. First i would say, transmission maintence, ie. ****** flush and filter replacement. Most high mileage problems can be avoided by having this done as per your manufactor suggests. Second is ignition, regular replacement and testing of the ignition system can prevent/repair many problems. Another overlooked aspect is body lube points. There is a zerk for almost anything that is bolted to anything else.

I just took my 2004 chrysler sebring for a routine oil change, and they asked me How old the timing belt was? The car seems to be running fine right now. Is this routine maintence or should I be concerned? [email protected]

Yes, it is a routine maintence to have it checked, if it's cracked or worn, it needs replacing, it will break without warning, and you won't be going anywhere, only by towing.
