Tip & How-To about 2009 Kia Spectra

Automatic Transmission

Have a bad habbit of tapping your brakes for no real reason. You are shortening the life of your transmission... Once your car is engaged in drive, the transmission is locked. Once you tap your break, the transmission unlocks. So if you have a habbit of resting a foot on the brake peddle or tap it often, you are causing unnecessary wear on your automatic transmission and could cause it to need overhauling or replacing sooner than later.

How can I fix cruise control

fix what ,not hold. will not engage or drops out or is inaccurate or?
or advance lever fails,(up/down)
no car told ,maker, model or year.?
cruise control evolved radiallly in 20 years.
the #1 failure is brake lamps dead, fuse blown. or brake switch bad.
the old cars have funky old dangerous cable drive throttle
that can rust and cause throttle to stick open a real man killler years
then on newer cars the Throttle has zero cables. called TBW ,throttle by wire (electric wires only) but if ever sticks speeds are limited to 20mph, or none at all.<< depend on level of bad, today.
the modern car disables cruise for vastly more reasons.
(1billion $ lawsuits happened)_
  1. brake switch fails.
  2. engine can not regulate idle for vast reasons
  3. CEL check engine lamp glows.
  4. DTC errors from engine or transmission
  5. Gear shifter PRNDL read wrong or contradictory.
  6. not in DRIVE.
  7. speed sensor errors even 3 or 4 of them now.
  8. bad cruise switch or bad clock spring pass through.
  9. and more, I will stop here. and say RTM read the service manual on the car. under CRUISE.
  10. good luck !!!!

while i am driving my 2001 e-350 goes into neutral what is wrong

Though it will not harm your transmission to shift into Neutral while your vehicle is in motion, the additional wear on your brakes by leaving the transmission in Drive will be negligible over the life of the brake pads. It is that minor. NEVER, EVER go into neutral while slowing down to a stop, for 3 reasons: 1.

Hi everyone! Transmission question. I have a

You going to have to service the transmission more frequently like every 15,000 miles or every 6 months and add a remote transmission oil filter. In the mean time bring the CVR to a transmission shop and have the transmission serviced and have them to a transmission line pressure test. This will give an indication if there is a problem with the Transmission oil pump, Boost valve, and the EPC valve. All should be covered under the warranty, unless you have put that much miles on the CRV already. And yes letting your foot of the brakes before you let it go into gear will shorten your transmission's life. Good luck and keep me posted.

Cruise control hard to engage and then kicks out at any time.

Until you rectify the fault DO NOT DRIVE WITH CC ENGAGED FOR ANY REASON!
3 possible causes off the top of my head.
1. Defective Dash Control switch.
2.All CC devices are over ridden by the Brake system.
Have you got a defective BRAKE LIGHT switch
3. Dirty or Burned Circuit fuse.
Best of luck in your endevours.
Regards, DT
