Tip & How-To about GMC C1500

Synthetic or conventional oil

Synthetic are better oils for your car life.Conventional oils are stanard for most cars but create wear and tear to your motor.Synthetic oils have less larger oil molecules. That cause less friction to your engine making it live longer and less maintance for you.Conventional oils have mixed molecules that create friction to your motor.Conventional molecules look like o0oo0o00oo.While synthetics molecules look like ooooooo.Synthetics oils can increase your fuel economy giving you extra money.Synthetics are cheaper for the consumer because you change your oil less than conventional oils.If you are changing from conventional oil to synthetics change your oil filter to synthetic also.

I have 101,000 miles on my Trailblazer and the last time I had an oil change they wanted to put in synthetic oil......nothing in the owners manual about doing this......should I change or keep using the 10-30 I've always used?

its mostly personal preferance.. your trailblazer doesnt call for synthetic so if you dont want to spend the extra cash i would just get a decent brand 5w30 or 10w30

"Fully synthetic" oils are more expensive. Conventional oils or syn blend engine oils are fine for the vehicle but need to be changed more frequently.

I put 1/3 Quart synthetic blend oil in with my regular oil on accident will this damage my car What should i do? Thank you Roxy

Synthetic and conventional will not "mix" and synthetic creates a barrier on moving parts, that conventional cannot pass. The correct combination will give you no problems and will yield the benefits of both conventional and synthetic. With Engine/Motor Oil, the maximum amount of synthetic recommended is 25%. Foaming will develop if more is used, and the foam will counteract with lubrication. In your case, a little bit of synthetic won't hurt anything!
