Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Aveo

All vehicles,2000 and up,DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!

The newer vehicles now days,will loose memory,when the battery is disconnected,so unless you have a aux. power supply to plug in the aux.outlet in the vehicle,do not disconnect the battery.This will save time and money ,the radio will have to be reprogrammed,with a code from the dealer,and the computer for the engine will have to be re-flashed at the dealer.So this is just a reminder,warning if you may,not to make this mistake. This applies to all makes and models.

Did you replace it or someone else ? On newer vehicles always power up system with external power supply before disconnecting the battery ! You mite need to take it to the dealer for a reprogramming ! Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems

I just bought a 1989 minnie winnie Winnebago with Chevy chassis, there was no generator all wires leading to generator were disconnected. There is no power to the rear cab unless the engine is running. The aux batteries are charged, but no power to any appliances or outlets unless engine is running. How do I get power to rear cab from aux batteries?
The wires that were hooked to the Generator were also hooked to the aux batteries. you'll have to trace the wires that are disconnected. Also, if you plan on just using your alternator to keep the aux batteries charged, then you need to make sure you have at least a 100 amp alt, If you use the batteries while the van isnt running it takes a big toll on the regular 60amp alt that most of these vans come with. I'd buy another generator and hoo it back in myself.

Help re: flat battery on the subaru forester 2004 - can I disconnect and put in a replacement. What are the precautions? How can I ensure I maintain the security and radio settings etc??
If the battery is dead,no power what so ever,then it will not matter,but a aux.power supply needs to be put on the vehicle to ensure no memory loss to all settings,and the computer.Another battery with jumper cables on the cable ends will ensure no memory loss,but it has to be done gracefully to prevent any shorting out.A plug in a cig,lighter with 12 volts would be idea,make sure the cig plug is hot even with the key off.

no pwer to front aux outlet
Most newer vehicles have aux outlets that can only handle so many watts and do go out if overloaded. If the fuse is good, pull the outlet out and check the hot wire for power. If the wire is hot the outlet needs to be replaced. Go to Autozone orAdvanced Auto and purchase a replacement outlet either in the "Help" section or in the Accessory aisle.
