Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Blazer
Want an easy way to take a cylinder head on and off a motor?
Well here you have at least one thought, hope it helps you all.
Remove all other sub assemblies as usual to gain access to the cylinder head and its bolts, Remove the cylinder head bolts.
After you have all the gaskets cleaned and ready for installation, take one of the head bolts to your local parts house or hardware store and match it up with about eight studs of the same diameter thread and length.
thread four of these studs 2 staggered to the front head bolt threaded holes in the engine block and two staggered in the two rear head bolt threaed head bolt holes.
You are now about experiene a whole lot of trouble free mounting of the head gaskets and seals, as well as the installation of the head/heads (on a V/6 or V/8).
Just slide the head down the shaft of the head bolt studs and one at a time install the head boltys using the inside to the ends torque theory and walla... you have it on without the gaskets sliding and without the cylinder head sliding loosing a proper seal.
Don't forget to be certain the stud bolts you threaded are hand tight and high enough to be protruding up through the heads so you can easily unscrew them when you need to replace them with the factory head bolts.
