Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Blazer

Changing inside pully belt

If you have two belts on your vehicle and need to change the inside one , put the edge of belt one pully that has outside belt and hit key couple times (do not start) the pulley and belt on the outside will turn putting the inside belt on inside without removing outside belt , Will leave small mark on belt that you put on But will not hurt it

my kia spectra was making a loud squeeling noise and it has stopped but now my Air conditioner will not blow cold air ( only blowing warm to room temp. air)...is it my fan belt?

it sounds belt related. i am not sure if this vehicle has a seperate belt for the ac compressor, but if so, it sounds possible that the compressor seized and tore the belt off. have a look

Serpentine Belt Alignment

you shouldnt have any allignment issues, assuming that the pully is good. if it needed to be replaced, you would know it. you would hear all kinds of odd noises...but my guess is that when the tension was put back on the belt, it was overlapping one of the edges on a pully farther down. just take a close look at where the belt is routed, and make sure that it is on its track on every pully. if not, release the tension, reallign, and tighten up again.

Belt Tensioner Operation: 0900823d8004ab61.jpgThis device functions as an idler pulley and is located on either the inside or outside of the accessory drive belt. Its provides the correct tension for initial belt adjustment and maintains this critical tension adjustment during vehicle operation. It can be found on conventional V-belts and the newer serpentine ribbed belts.
