Tip & How-To about Honda Civic

Car wont start?

Hello, the most common problems i see with vehicles not starting is the fuel intake ratio. When your car will not start or it starts for just a moment and shuts off or if it even idles rough then that is most commonly a fuel issue. The first thing that i would recommend doing is replacing the fuel filter, the fuel filter is an easy and inexpensive solution and trial and if you need step by step instructions for this task you can contact me with your vehicle information and i can assist you with the process. But if your vehicle continues with the problem then take it to a shop and have it diagnosed, most shops will do a free diagnosis in hopes that you will hire them so take advantage of that. Once the problem has been acknowledged it will most likely be one of two things fuel pump or fuel injection, these are not as easy of tasks or inexpensive but all effective if you have had an accurate diagnosis of the problem. Thank you for reading hopefully this will help many people with fuel problems.
ps. remember for any instructions or assistance with maintenance on your vehicle you can contact me via fixya or [email protected]

Engine light is on

Hello,
This is my best guess without knowing the yeay and model, but these issues are very common among many vehicles.

There are many things that can trigger your engine light, here are the 3 most common in the order of likelyhood that I would have checked as soon as you can.

1. Dirty air filter. ( this often causes a bad fuel/air mix ratio. The air filter is the engine's lungs.)

2.( MAF), "mass air flow " sensor. ( A faulty MAF can cause rough idle, stalling, and even prevent the engine from starting, particularly in cold weather. This can also cause a very poor fuel/air mix ratio.)

3. Oxygen sensor. ( This also effects the fuel/air mix ratio ),

I hope this helps you.

Toyota Carina loss of power

lets start with the heating up problem!
replacing the thermostat and relay has nothing to do with it. common causes of heating up are improper valve setting timing, mismatch air-fuel ratio, worn-out piston rings, poor oil flow, poor radiator coolant flow.
i suppose you have changed your car motor oil. recheck if its on the right amount.

loss of power:
Common Causes
loose piston rings (causing insufficient compression: indications fog like smoke), air-fuel ratio incorrect, blockage in air intake.

check also for air on the fuel hoses if you experience often jurking problems regularly clean fuel strainers or filters.

Stalling when engine temp reaches 160 degrees

Here are my theories

Idle Air Control valve (IAC) - allows a small amount of air to pass though throttle body at idle since the butterfly in the throttle body is closed at this time - if this doesn't open the vehicle will stall

Air Intake Temp Sensor - Helps correct air fuel ratio by measuring the temp of the air coming through the intake

Oxygen Sensor - Largest determinate of air/fuel ratio after the vehicle almost reaches operating temp which is approx 160 degrees

Coolant temp sensor - Largest determinate of the air/fuel ratio from cold up to the point when the oxygen sensor takes over

EGR Valve - 5.2 Liters are known for these failing, they redirect a small amount of exhaust gases back into the intake manifold for re-burning (emissions thing). Sometimes they get stuck closed and allow for too much exhaust gas back into the manifold. But usually this would cause very poor performance as well as shuddering and stalling

Use what you know about your condition and what these common fail items are and see if any of them sound like the problem
