Abs traction control Saab 2001 9-3

I changed my steering column universal joint and the Anit skid light came on. Reason being the sensor for the steering wheel needed re calibrating on the Tech 2. The computer can sense if the steering wheel is not straight. Two Hall sensors are inside the column module pick up movement from a gear and this is relayed to the Hall sensor. My car has a later steering column universal join so I had to rotate on the spines to get the steering wheel near straight then get it re calibrated. all ok now .

What does "Stability Control Failure" on a Saab

The stability control system uses the abs wheel speed sensors to detect when a wheel is losing traction and would presumably apply the brake on that wheel to maintain traction. The system is the Vauxhall (GM's British operation) version of a traction control system further refined by Saab's engineers. Stability control failure means the system will no longer be available to assist the driver maintain traction.

My 2004 Saab won't start. When I turn the key it

Methodical fault finding is required...not haphazard guestimation and changing out of components on a suck it and see basis. The first place to start is to ask the car computer what it thinks is going on. You do that by plugging in a diagnostic tool into the OBD2 port (at knee height under the driver side dash, right above the brake pedal). you don't need to have the Tech2 diagnostic to do that, as you aren't going to be doing any programming, it's just a look-see exercise and pretty much most plug in tools will be able to read off the fault codes. Take a note of the codes (they'll be formatted along the lines of P0335 or P0337, for example) Then just google those codes as e.g. DTC P0335 or try P0335 fault code. The info that you get from doing this will point you towards the problem. say, for example, you do get a P0335 code ...that means there's something wrong with your CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) and the computer doesn't like that kinda thing, so it spits its dummy out and causes things to happen, like stalling etc all the way through to not starting. The car is 2004, right ? That's getting on in years and sensors etc do start to fail with age. but that doesn't mean it's the sensor itself that's gone pear shaped, it could wiring or connector, so you can carry out simple tests using nothing more than a multimeter. You can look at the sensor resistance which should read 860 Ohms +/- 90 Ohms across pins 1 & 2 (at a temperature of 20 deg Celsius. you can check to see that the sensor is securely fitted. you can check resistance of the sensor wiring, wiggle the wires and see if the resistances fluctuates wildly or whatever . Im not saying that the CPS is your fault, I'm just giving this as an example of how you can methodically home in on the problem area then try to isolate the specific problem by carrying out simple testing. Google is you friend in this.... id suggest you do this yourself or get a friend to help you out with it if you're not confident at using a multimeter. I certainly wouldn't be asking this so-called Saab mechanic to do it as he clearly hasn't got the faintest idea of what he's doing, (not just about Saabs, he hasn't got a clue about the most basic of fault finding techniques....but I bet his wallet is heavier than yours though) Good luck - it's not rocket science or black magic , so just take it slowly and methodically.

I need to replace the alternator on a 2003 saab 9-3

I could give you the part number and some information for this alternator if it initially helps. Part Number: F321S001. (if anyone else knows, please make sure this is correct, just in case. This is for UK cars, so not sure if other countries use the same part number, although I don't think it would be a problem). Make: Bosch E8 - 14V, 75-140 A

Lost only key for Saab 93 2004aero 2litre turbo

The doors work on a different system to the ignition. The doors will unlock but the ignition key immobiliser is specific to each car. That means the car won't recognise the key. Replacing the lost key would have been the easiest fix even though it costs a lot. All you need is the vehicle details for your car. I was quoted £200 for a replacement Vauxhall key. Cheaper than replacing steering columns and associated electronics. Your only other option is to take it to a Saab Dealer/specialist and pay the 'silly money' for them to reset and link the replacement scrap car key to your car.

2000 9-5 wagon 2.3L turbo. trouble light comes on

For the amount of money it will cost it would be worth changing the thermostat anyway. They aren't very expensive and reasonably easy to repair. Water pump replacements are more expensive AND more work. Try the cheaper one first as thermostats are known to wear out. If the overflow tank is backing up it will be because the safety valve built into the water pump is diverting built up pressure.

2004 saab 9-5 remote CIM module

receiver is hidden away inside the dashboard. it could be the fob is weak or you have something interfering with the fob signals, even a fob going faulty can interfere with its own signal, if you have a spare fob try the difference with that one. if you don't have a spare its best to get one as it may come in handy, it will need programing to the vehicle but it will take up 6 fobs.
