USA cars. only.
how to?
did you mean HOW to? (where, what ,when ,how , why, etc)
which engine, and which of 2 belts.?
the cam belt? G16 engine.? nah.
or the accessories belts.? I'll guess, Accessory drive belts.
guess 2:
my guess, is H25/7 V6 engine? or bigger V6. same family
"in the factory service manual on all suzuki's it is"
this is covered in the FSM book by suzuki, or alldata.com or
suzuki pit stop plug, for $4
this has been asked now on fixya 100s of times and answered more.
the J27 engine, as fitted on USA cars (this is a USA forum,so...)
has 2 belts. one for ALT/pump
with a slotted, adjustable idle tension pulley (no springs)
and
one for P/S - A/C side.
it has a :
To adjust P/S and A/C belt tension, turn tension pulley using hexagon wrench.
see here for a clear view on H25
http://www.fixkick.com/belts.html#j20
on the newer cars the alternator method changed,
and is more like the A/C side.
see arrow, my 04 dont have that. part.
on my 04 the alternator moves. (tilts) look first to see what YOU have. The G16 engines, is more tricky, but you have the V6 i think.
there are only 3 types, of tension systems.
1: TILT (alt, or P/S)
2: like below, with slot ,see slot? no springs here
3: spring loaded, idler, with allen key hole for release. J20) style.
so now you know what is there,
so ill just do above belt. (how to replace and tension)
- loosen both 12mm bolts at idler.
- the belt goes slack
- remove belt
- put on new
- set tension to 10mm deflection at 22lbs force mid span.
- lock screws down .
- done.
that covers no spring, idler.
the link above shows, how to do the spring drive type, with a hex 10mm key "allen"
