I am not sure what a plug defouler is. The nature of the fouling would indicate the nature of the fault to some extent and provide a clue as to what action is needed.

You say the coil and wires are new but you didn't say you had renewed the plug, checked the spark power, distributor cap if it has one or any of the other tasks usually done as part of the fault-finding process.

If faults are still active the management will be on the emergency programme and it must be expected the engine wouldn't run as well as normal.

Maybe if feels like the CAT is blocked because the CAT is blocked - it is far from unknown.

I have no plug wire spark 1997 dodge average 2.5 v6 24 value.have already replaced crankshaft positioning sensor on it and still no spark to the wires

Sounds like a bad distributor. Had you pulled a spark plug out you may have found them wet with gas after cranking. If they are wet the crank sensor is working since both injector pulse and coil pulse rely on crank signal.

The distributors are known week points in the ignition system and used to be common when theses cars where still on the road. A reman will run you $250 U.S.

No,4 plug not fireing changed plug wires.new coil.plug ran good for 100 miles then 4 stop again

You would need to figure out if it is a problem inside the cylinder or with something like the crank-cam sensor firing the coil. I would change the plug again to see if it works for a few days.
Could be a problem with the fuel injector or a vac leak if the plug is firing but no power from that cylinder.

Hello there good man or woman

Lets start off like this there is 50 different things that can cause these issues but will start with the simple things in a list. So here it goes

1. bad spark plugs (carbon fouled, fuel fouled, oil fouled, heat glazed, or just worn out rounded electrode's )
2. spark plug wires (there is no simple way to check this but there cheap and easy to try)
3. distributor cap & igniton rotor (or coil pack if so equipped) could be corroded carbon glazed heat glazed again thought both rotor button and distributor cap are cheap and easy to change. If it is a coil cheap to and just as easy on both this is were plug wires connet to on the oppsite end of spark plugs.
4. coil pick up (this sits underneath distributor cap and rotor and is cheap and easy to fix aswell)
5. clogged air filter
6. bad pcv valve
7. bad egr valve
8. bad fuel pressure regulator
9.bad fuel pump or clogged strainer
10. vaccum line leaking or off

I know with all that being said may sound overwelming but most are easy to fix and cheap this is what i would so first do a good tune up this includes new spark plugs , plug wires, air filter , pcv valve, fuel filter distributor cap and rotor (or coil pack if so equipped ) .

That will most likley fix your problem

If it helps please leave 4 thumbs up and if it works a testomnial thanks

I pulled my plugs & discovered all 4 were bad. However #3 & #4 cyl. were fouled, esp. #3. (the rpm's did not even change when I pulled the plug wire off prior to removing plugs). #1 & #2 looked...

cfor saturn due to poor piston ring seal. Goto a chevy dealer and tell them you need the stuff to clean the rings in your saturn they should know exactly what your talkin about. You pull all 4 plugs pour that in there and let it sit for atleast 24 hours. then turn engine over with alot of rags over the spark plug holes to catch most of chemicle and let sit for a bit to dry out. Put plugs in and go. that stuff eats the carbon buildup that causes the rings to seize up. Second white plugs in that motor ar again common as it runs pretty hot. If you put plugs in it and it runs good them no need for wires. and the rumor is correct. you have plugs, wires and a coil pack then under the coil pack is the ignition module. hope that helps ya

Was misfiren bad put new plugs in it and run good for bout half a day then started back. computer says misfire cyl. 4 and 6

Could be wires? Or coil pack, if it is same one for those two especially. Wires could be touching metal anywhere? If so it will easily arc through and shor out. It will make a ticking sound when running. Or could be something getting into cylinders fouling out plugs. Liike water from coolant system. Was plugs wet?

Number 5 cylinder fouling out 3.8

It don't sound electrical to me sense you chg. all that, the plugs you put in are they a hotter plug? You don't by chance have a broken valve spring do ya, thats what it sounds like to me. Just sounds to me that its valve spring most likely exhaust valve.
