My avital car alarm/remote starter that was installed by Ford over a year ago is acting up. Every time I go to use the key pad it either makes a connection or does not syn up with the car. I have to use the stock key pad to unlock the doors which causes the alarm to sound. I can not get the alarm to go off. How do I reset the car alarm? It is not the battery on the key pad either b/c I have a spare which does the same thing and the spare is hardly in use.

Remote Starters have to bypass the anti-theft software. disconnecting the battery, broke the programming. You will need to take it back to the installer.
I take help from online websites that have this service like helping in repair some like reliable-store have instant help.. others are a bit slow which I don't prefer... rest is up to u.. U can also get free manu als
Hello my name is Israel. I will try to help you out. I would first check to make sure it is not the alarm. You will need to get under the sterring column area and look for a black/yellow wire that is spliced. You will need to connect that wire back together. This black/yellow wire is for the starter. If the alarm is acting up and you spice this wire back together it should start. If the vehicle, after connecting this wire together, does not start then you probably have a starter problem. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
Remote car starters can be very tricky to install. If you have never installed a car alarm of starter before, then I would higly reccommend having it professionally done-it will be worth the headache you save. As for brands, anything from Directed Electronics ( Avital, Viper, Hornet, Clifford, etc) or from Omega Research and Development ( Excalibur, K-9, etc.)
I would suggest you obtain the install instructions from the dealer and check that it was wired into the system correctly. Another thought is that the remote needs to be programmed, that was a common issue when I worked for a Ford dealer.
