Hello, You have debris in the rear brake assembly. The rear wheels have 2 sets of brakes. There are service brakes and Emergency brakes. The sensors that count the wheel revolutions for the ABS system get blinded by loose debris when the Emergency brake pads fall apart.

When you back up, the loose debris shifts from where it was packed going forward and falls in front of the sensors when you go in reverse. You need to have the rear Emergency brakes checked.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

I recently have been having problems with my 2001 Ford Windstar shutting down when i go in reverse and it shuts down when i come to a stop. What could be wrong?

it could be a blocked fuel filter ,a bad idle solinoid , a week fuel pump, a bad throttle position sensor ,dirty air filter , If car is not running ruff before putting in gear . if running ruff all the time it could be bad plugs, injectors coils plug wires or any of the above. check for a vaccume leak it is a # 1 problem with windstars. if this was helpful please leave good feed back

I suspect my 1995 windstar may have a bad modulator valve the fluid level seems to go away with no apparent leak and now it takes off in 2nd gear and won't shift to 3rd or od and the od light on t

I've been doing research on these vans. Seems I remember that if the OD light flashes >>> fluid level is low. Also, I read where Ford wants you to overfill fluid so as to allow you to go around corners without loss of lubracation. By this time you may have melted it down and bought a Honda. I have a 95 Teal color and just in flawless shape, however it won;t go in reverse. Just follow the hood ornament and don;t look back...right ! ?

My 2001 Ford Windstar brakes locked up driving down the road the other day. The brake pedal was just floppy and only engaged when it was near the floor. I was close so drove it on in and by the time I

t sounds like a battery problem ,, and or possibly a problem with the rectifier circuit.l That is what converts the AV current from the alternator to DC. if its pushing AC power the battery wont charge and you will have these issues with electrical malfunction.. you will also need to check your ACC fuse for the player and TV that inst working.

Should I buy a used 2001 windstar or are there known problems, something in particular to look out for? A lady.

Windstar engines are known for faulty head gaskets, And no one really wants to replace them,so it is costly.
