REMOTES My grand voyager remotes are very poor , they dont work from the back of the car, I have to go round to the front to get the doors unlocked even then sometimes they dont work.

  • vincey Sep 10, 2008

Thankyou for your response and good advice, I have already changed batteries and my dealer agreed to give me new remotes and recode them. The new ones show the same problem as the old ones.

I also spoke to Chrysler uk who told me that the remotes were not very good on that year .

Something to do with having to come within the "Thatcham " remit.

I have another car with a thatchem alarm in it which is 15 years old and we have to hide the keys from my 2 yr old as they operate around 60 feet away.

Are chrysler "fobbing" me off ( sorry about the pun - key fob )

    Look forward to any ideas

If both remotes are equally poor, it points to the receiver, but
the batteries used in such devices often have a useful lifetime of 5 years even if in storage so it seems a little early to have to replace them but that is where I would start.
It is possible though, that those installed in 2004 were not fresh stock.
Buying replacement remotes is not what I would do without first doing the battery replacement since they are probably quite costly and they would likely need to be programmed by the dealer.

The receiver could be at fault but you will need an aftermarket service manual to locate it.

All my remotes won't unlock passenger doors, why?

this is a problem that can appear after your car battery died, cause the car didn't reset propely, so taking the battery out and putting it back in or letting your car die again would do the trick. I tried a lot of reprogramming procedured for my remote key, none of them worked, what did the trick though was simply unlocking the doors via the all door unlock button on the passenger side door, so simple.

I recently had problems with my remotes not working on my 2004 Toy Sequoia, I was initially told that it was the remotes. Turns out it was much more than that and required that the dealership keep my SUV...

Hi, the problem you are having is not with the remotes the problem you are having is with the central locking motor, this would not have failed due to the remotes not working as the other doors lock then this would rule out the remote being at fault as its only one sensor that picks up the signal then this locks all the doors.
the problem is with the central locking motor inside the door, it may just be that a wire has come loose or if you can hear it working but it dont lock then this means the motor unit will need replacing.

either way the whole door panel has got to come off so you can get to the motor and the wires.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Automatic side door will no longer open with remote or console button in car. Also, both side door's locks will not pop up using all of our 3 remotes (1 door is automatic, 1 is manual). Lastly, the back...

Did these doors quit at the same time or over a period. It seems that the actuators for the locks have gone bad. With the mentioned doors, that's a lot weight for the actuators to unlock and pop open. With the remotes and console not working , that's more reason to think the actuators are the problem.

I just bought a 1996 jeep grand cherokee larado, I locked the doo while inside with electric lock switch on door. I then opened the door with the handle. the alarm went off which I did not know it had. I...

lock with key, electric door lock button,or remote and alarm will set. to disarm you have to use the key or remote to open it.the reason it woulnt disarm from drivers door is either the door lock cylinder switch is broken or the wire to it in the rubber boot that connects the door and the body is broken.
the remotes are cheap and programing is easy, procedure in owners manuel something like lock drive door with elkect. lock switch with door open then push and hold unlock untill doors unlock then turn key off.you may have to fix that drive door lock cyl.switch first though mabee not dont know for sure

How do i reset auto locks and unlocks on 2005 grand prix battery is good on remote

Dont know if this will help but it may work.. You may have to resyncronize the remotes , this is done by holding the lock and unlock buttons down together at the same time for 10 or 15 seconds and the door locks will cycle up and down once ,then do the same with the other remote then syncronization is complete... sometimes the cars remote function actuator forgets which signal to watch for or it gets confused...lol hope this helps
