Car cutting out.

Cuts out on tick over some times.revs also hunt up and down and when driving sometimes judders.i have cleaned out idler air sensor and it ran fine for a few hours.then switched off car for 10 mins. started up again and cut out down road

primera1600 didn't want to start no revs and hunting on idle then cut out , when I did get driving it then cut out whilst driving after 10 mins , I then started it up and it got me home .any ideas please .

2004 ford fiesta zetec 1.4 14v diesel...cutting out!

engine cutting out is a sensor probably the timing sensor. needs replacing. as for braking would think you have a leak in the air line. even with the engine not funning you should be able to apply the brakes upto 3 times.. think this model is not fitted with abs like my sisters. when engine is running rev upto 3000 rev's if it starts to judder. also listen for hissing sound, if you find one repair it. most problems are down to a leaking air line.

Mini bushes problem

I have a mini one 2003. when i drive it its fine unless im cruising at about 40mph then i get a juddering. I have changed the air filter and used 2 bottles of injector fluid which when thats in the petrol it runs fine but as soon as i put more petrol in it starts juddering again. Also sometimes when i stop at traffic lights the engine feels that its gonna cut out, it revs up and down has has cut out once. Please can you help

Speedo will cut out when driving

Sounds like your "speed sensor" is failing. When it fails it will cause irregular shift patterns and engine idle speeds.

The battery could be slightly weak, making the computer go on the fritz, try a fresh battery!!!! The rev counters bounce often with a weak battery.

Rev counter jumps whilst idling and then engine cuts out

Your problem sounds as if the thermo sensor....which controls the air fuel ratio when engine is cold....is faulty. It is a common fault on this model.
This is not an expensive part, and takes only a short time to fit.

Revs ''hunt'' on tickover, sometimes revs drop so low car cuts out

Thanks to some advice I have fixed the problem with my Granada. The pipe work from the exhaust manifold to the inlet manifold has a short piece of plastic pipe which needed replacing. This seems to have done the trick.

I would like to thank you for running this site. Without it I would still be re-starting my car each time I stop at a red light!
