2001 Silverado Chevy Truck

This just happened-- driving truck and the steering wheel makes a rubbing sound when you turn it, to the right and to the left. We checked the power steering fluid and it was full. Can you help us with this problem?

Check your belt tension and also look for any leaks on the rack and pinion ,did you perhaps turn the wheel at all while the engine was off? or was the truck in a shop that may have done this, if so there may just be air in the system that needs to be worked out -jeff please rate

2010 Chevy silverado Rear wheel dragging on turns

if you have a limited slip differential or a diff locker in action , that is what will happen if the unit is locked up
if you do not have anything but a normal diff, it indicates gear failure and the side gears ( spider gears ) have metal in the teeth and are jammed

My 99 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 new model has a rubbing noise when driving. I jacked truck up, both wheels off ground. Rolled driver side wheel. the sound of rubbing came from driver side of differential....

It sounds like the front bearings on the hub or hubs is going out. at high speeds you may not hear it.

but driving on a regular city street may sound louder. sometimes sounds like your transmission is going

out, but its the front hubs. since you have a 4 x 4 replacing the bearings is more in depth, you will need

special tools such as lock ring pliers and a special deep socket to remove the inner lock nut made for

chevy and gmc trucks. I would recommend you get a diaghram, the best money for your buck is to

go to alldata.com and purchase a membership for your truck, and it will have a wealth of info. to include

printing and anything in referance to your truck. each vehicle cost under 17 dollars per year . I have it

on all my vehicles. good luck!

Replacing ignition switch in 2001 chevy silverado

Not the igniton switch, its the ingition cylinder and or the housing. The switch is not part of what you are really turning. It's connected to it via gears. The common problem is the key gets worn out and the tumblers wear also. Eventualy they do not line up right and will not make the "bar" drop in the cylinder to allow it to turn from the off positon. If you have the title in your name and the key has never been rekeyed or the code has been changed you can go down to a dealership with all of the info for the truck and they can cut you a key from the vin number. You can try that first before you put a cylinder and housing in it.

Chevy 1999 silverado makes a rubbing sound when i turn right how can i fix that

first you have to find out where the sound is coming from, then go from there. start by turning the wheels all the way to the right and look for something rubbing.

Knocking noise

If the knocking sound is coming from the steering wheel area itself, then I believe it's the nylon bushing in the steering colum. My friend had the same problem with his truck. The other trucks we work on at the shop seem to have this common problem.

If it's sounds like its outside the truck, have the tie rod ends checked out.

the power brakes are a hydrolic system ran off of the power steering pump. therefore if you have a busted power steering hose the power brakes will not work.
