Not really something for a do-it-yourselfer unless you have the underlying code. P0700 is a "general transmission fault" code. There is a code under that which can be found by a DRB-III scan tool. If you can find it, you'll know what to fix. It could be as simple as an input sensor for the transmission, or as complex as replacing a mechanical part inside the transmission. The code will tell you where to go.

The engine light came on and when i reset the code p 0700 came up what does it mean I have a crysler 2004 town and country

It means you have a code in the TCM. You need to have the Transmission control module scanned for codes.

Describe your 1996 Chrysler Town &

HAVE SOMEONE EXTRACT THE CODE FROM THE CAR'S COMPUTER. IF THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THEN THE PCM HAS A CODE STORED ON IT. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, BUT JUST CHECK THE CODE TO BE SURE. SOME OF THESE CAN ALSO HAVE A BAD IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU TO FIND THE PROBLEM. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED, THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

I want to know what trouble code P0700 means in a chrysler town and country 1998, and how do I reset the check engine light?

0700 is a "transmission control system malfunction". The entire 0700 series of codes deals with transmission trouble codes in more detail so the 0700 won't tell you much unless one or more of the other codes also were set.
