Hi Jessica:
If this is the straight 6 cylinder motor, they were basically very similar to the chevy. The firing order was 1 5 3 6 2 4
If you look at the distributor, find the number 1 plug wire, and then check from there it should confirm it for you.
Gotta love old chevys!
Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 , engine numbering is 1-3-5 towards the back and up front is 2-4-6, coil numbering from left to right is 1-4, 6-3, 2-5. This is for your year of engine I hope this helps you!
It could be a fuel problem, the pickup coil in the bottom of the distributor, or the ignition module among other things. Someone would need to figure out if the ignition system is causing the problem or if one of the injectors is failing.
#1 piston is the first spark plug drivers side front of engine. Passenger side cylinders are 2 4 6 Drivers side cylinders are 1 3 5 Distributor rotates clockwise and the starting spot is marked with a 1 on the top of the distributor cap. Make sure you note the position of the 1 on the old cap before you take it off so you don't rotate the new one 180 out
