Several things can make the a/c blow hot air. if the a/c was working but barely blowing then you may want to check for a clogged cabin air filter(it is behind the glove box in the a/c box). since the a/c is blowing hot all the time now, try releasing the freon out of the system or have it recovered into a recovery machine. you may have OVERCHARGED the system and the high pressure switch is keeping the compressor from working.the best thing to do is have the system pressures checked to see if the low side is 35-45 psi and the high side is175-225 psi with the compressor working. if the pressures are not within these parameters then there is another problem.

Air conditioning blows hot air when ideling and sometimes while driving. Car is running hotter than usual. Losing coolant also. Sometimes a squeeking noise comes from the hood when air is on.

First, I would buy the a/c recharge kit that comes with the servicing hose with it, and that should give you the cool air. You can buy this from Walmart for $34 or less.

A/C unit blowing hot air when selected to cool on

Your A/C unit is low on Freon, or you have a bad pressure switch. Turn on the Air Conditioner, with the engine running, & put it on Max. Open the hood, & see if the compressor is spinning. If it is not, then you need gas. You can buy refill kits at a local Walmart. If you have a leak, it may be a wasted $30. That is what I paid for a 22 oz. can of R-134A Freon. I had a dealer regas mine & put in a dye that they can find leaks with a black light. It may be cheaper in the long run. My drier, in front of the radiator has a leak. It will cost $460. to replace it.

this is because you have a bad switch which has gone bad and you need to replace it or either try to bypass it through another circuit.
