I just bought my blazer and a week later the 4wd service light came on so i pressed the 2wheel hi button it flash, then it would go into 4x4 mode eventualy the service light stayed on permenantly and all the other light stayed off. i was told that i need to have it scaned because i culd burn up my transfercase. any solution please
From someone that has had a 2000 Blazer for 6 years now I would say return the vehicle if you can and run the other way. Blazers are VERY poor in consumer reports and I average spending almost 1000 every 2-3 months. Oil cooler lines leaking, Idler Arm, Ball Joints and Bearings (felt like I was on ice in summer), Fuel pump. What a headache. I will never buy another GM.

these damn things do this all the time, my 03 ? you cant count on it to work any day of the week ! you just get lucky and it works. I get all lights flashing, i get the nuetral light on yet it is in 2 hi. I'm tired of all the codes and replacing parts, 700.00 dollars later and still the same. I just drive it and it fixes itself in a day, maybe next time i start truck. It worked the best when i sealed all the electrical plugs in moisture proof wrapping, but a few months later and its a guess game again so i just drive it !
one of my vehicles is actually a 2000 blazer and i had that same problem believe it or not. you should check all the connections to the brain of the 4wd. take off the passenger side right side kick panel. the kick pannel is that piece on the side right there next to the door. take that off and you will see a grey box. pull the wires out and look at the ends. i cleaned mine out with a q tip because there was crud in one of them which screws things up. if that doesnt fix it you may need a new one. they can be really expensive from a dealer so i went to a wrecking yard and pulled one out of another blazer and it only cost $20. it works fine now :) i hope that helps.
It is the shift motor for the 4wheel drive - only problem is that a shop has to program the new shift motor to the blazer or it will keep doing the same thing
2001 Chevy Blazer it likes to stay in 4 low. replaced sensor, pannel motor, older computern to check it was placed for a couple weeks or less it will do the same thing again. Just dies and quits has to be restarted agin still in 4 low . Tried to shift the gears slowly, Place in reverse and 2HD pressed and held while backing up this dinn't work either. To get it home I had to hold it in neutral and run the gears again ginally I got it to a shop. He is out of ideas too.
As I recall the 96 blazer had electronic shifting for 2wd to 4wd. There should be a small panel on the drivers dash buttons for 2wd, 4wd lo and 4wd hi.
Simply press the desired button while stationary and if the system is functioning properly then it will shift and the light for the engaged type of drive will be lighted. Generally you would like to be in 2wd for this vehicle.
there is a vacuum solonoid on the firewall in the middle with 2 vac lines and a 2 wire plug
thats ur problem
push the button and smack it with the handle of a screwdriver should work
i have a 1993 blazer 4.3 w code 4x4 with a 4L60 E . my truck wouldn;t go in 4 hi or low. so i changed the transfer case motor and it works fine now. If you turn the ignition key to on but not crank the engine and open the driver door and push 4 hi button, you should hear the transfer case motor cycle for 3 or 4 seconds every time you push button and the light will flash until it goes in 4wd If the 4 hi button light doesn't flash during cycle then it could be a bad switch. if the transfer case motor won't cycle it could be a fuse or a bad transfer case motor . Hope this answers your question. pgale89
