I found a link with video instructions on how to remove the dashboard. I think this can guide you. You might have a different car make but the process of removing dashboard will make sense with regard to your question.

Check under the dash, there you find a panel , remove it. There you find the heater core, first remove the hoses connected then remove screws.

I have a 1996 grand prix se I believe that my heater core is leaking how hard is it to change it in this vehicle

It's a big job. The heater core is accessed from inside the car under the dash. If your car has a center console, it must be removed, along with the glove box and the under dash covers. Then you'll see the actual heater box. Removing the box will show you the core, but you'll need to go under the hood to disconnect the heater hoses before you can remove it. Obviously, you need to drain the cooling system first.
Also note, when you replace the core and put the heater box back in, the box has to be sealed for proper operation. In some cases, either RTV sealant can be used, or foam tape.

Heater coil replacement

I just did mine last weekend and my my its a job I pulled the seats out to make it easier and if it has ac that will have to be discharged also. well start by removing your center console2_bing.gif then your radio then take off your dash speaker covers off and your defroster covers off you will see a bunch of bolts that hold on your dash under all them covers so go ahead and remove all the bolts then move down under the dash and there is a bolt on both corners of the dash that goes into the lower panel remove them I also removed the bolts the hold the steering wheel up so it can lower down alittle to give you more room then ontop of your gauge cluster you will see two screws that holds the gauge cover on remove them and in the cover you also have headlight switch and hazzered and rear defroster make sure you unplug the harnesses to them then you will have to start unhooking all the other plugs and wiring that plugs into things on dash then get the dash out oh the way and go under hood and remove heater2_bing.gif core hoses and you will need a specal tool to remove ac line then you will see one bolt next to the heater core hoses so go ahead and remove that then back to inside you will see the brackets that hold on heater Assembly onto the car2_bing.gif and go ahead and remove them and pull whole assembly out and you will see the heater core cover its held on with 4 screws so remove them and finally remove heater core and get some sealant to put around the new heater core this is a lot of work it took me about 12 hours to complete and get you a bucket because their is alot of nuts, bolts, clips so good luck

How to remove heater core 2004 grand prix

The entire dash does not need to be removed.
Disconnect the heater inlet and outlet hoses which enter the firewall directly under the 'hard lines' for the AC'. near the center/driver side of the fire wall. Note: A cable operated clamp removal tool helps access. They sell them at Autozone in the 'OEM' tool section)
Remove the lower kick panels on both sides.
Remove the seats and console and carpet (to access and remove the duct which goes from the bottom of the heater core outlet cover to the back seat area)
Remove the outer heater core cover.
(Note: First time through the outer heater core cover is held on only by heat stakes, no screws. You need to break the head of each of these heat stakes (look like donuts) to remove the case.
Remove the inner heater core cover (also heat stakes).
Remove the heater core.
Installation is reverse of removal.
You'll need to drill the marked dimples next to each of the now broken heat stakes. Drill 5.5mm holes in cover in these areas and replace cover with screws which should be available from GM dealer.

The heater corps in my truck went out

To replace the heater core in that model truck you will need to remove the whole dash, steering colum. Then discharge the A/C and remove the heater/a/c case. It is a time consuming job and difficult without the proper tools and info. If you are going to attempt this then be sure to disable the air bag system by disconnecting the battery for at least 10 min. before you start working. Good Luck

How do you remove the console in a 95 grand am se

It is very hard!! You actually are supposed to remove the whole dash!! I took a shortcut and just took the screws out of the plastic box under the dash where the heater core is,behind the console, next to the floorboard, and cut it across the back on the bottom. You then have to get under the car to remove this screw that is on the firewall between the 2 heater core hoses..then remove the hoses from the heater core on the firewall. Then you can get back inside the vehicle and it will pull out. When you replace, the cover that you cut, just put the screws back in and put some tape across where you cut the cover off. It saved me from having to take the whole dash out, and having to spend $300 to have a mechanic replace my heater core!!

Heater core replacement

You do not have to do anything with the air conditioning, its all inside car under right side of dash. 1. go under hood and unhook heater hoses and bracket( if equiped) from core tubes. 2. go under dash right side remove 13mm bolt far right under dash thats so you can pull dash out a little ways to get cover off heater where heater core is.3. 1/4 in. socket set and 1/4 in. socket take screws out holding cover on look close there is one hidden top far right can't remember how maney 5 or 6 i think, screws all out use a little finess and remove cover and there will be your heater core. Good luck.

Removing/replacing a 2000 kia sportage 4x4 4 dr heater core

The heater is located under the dash board to the right and down from the radio. To remove and replace it you will have to remove the dash board down to the fire wall. Also, you will have to disconnect two hoses that connect up to it from the engine compartment. These are located in the back of the engine and down on the firewall about midway. Once you remove the dash board and locate the heater core you will be able to see the location of these two hoses. Removing the heater core is time consuming but it will save you about 700 dollars.

98 intrique heater core out

your right. i just finished 5 minutes ago pulling my heater core out, 1999 Intrigue. If you are good you might be able to loosen the dash, push the bottom back and up and pull off the covers over the heater core for removal, not sure. i didn't have a manual so i pulled the complete console, complete dash, removing all electronics one at a time, remove top cover to get access to the top bolts, pull the rubber door trim from the side to get to 2 13mm head bolts on each side, the metal plate under the steering wheel must come out too, unhook all lights, switches, cig lighters, etc. phisicallly remove the complete dash. then pull off the bottom pieces, 3, of the black box, which holds the heater core. lots of little bolts around the edges, and one holding the heater core pipes. don't loose any of the thousand bolts. have fun.
