Trying to find out which transmission fluid a 94 geo tracker uses, running low on it and needs to be filled just don't know what kind it takes. Also, we tried running it for a while, the themometer isn't registering and when the geo gets over 15 miles it cuts out like if your in park and hitting the gas, when you let off for a while it will kick start again and goes normally any idea what this is?

Hello bruanaustint: My name is Roger and I will help with your question. The oil will depend wether you have a automatic or standard transmission. If you have an automatic use Dexron 2E or dexron 3 fliud. If you have a standard transmission with a two or four wheel drive use a GL-4, 75w90 weight synthetic gear oil.
Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using FIx Ya. Roger

I have a 1991 Geo Tracker with an auto transmission. It is slow to shift into reverse. How can I adjust the bands?

Question edited for clarity.

Try changing the auto transmission fluid, or at least topping it up. The demands of plowing snow are pretty ******* transmissions. Fully changing the fluid comes with its own problems. The best way is to drain the fluid, carefully measure and replace it with the same amount plus a couple of measured tablespoons extra.

95 Tracker 1st to 2nd shift issue (automatic)

Would start by checking linkage or the cable that runs to tranny. Tranny fluid level is correct? Check fluid level first. Run 15-20 mins and check with motor warmed and running

Where is the transmission fill plug on a 94 gmc sonoma with manual trans

It's been a while since I have run into one of those but I do remember you need a 17mm Allen socket or wrench to remove the fill plug. The fill plug is about half way up the side. I don't remember if it's the driver or passenger side. If you find a plug with a 17mm opening your on the right track. Here's a trick if you don't have an Allen that big. Most bulk 10mm bolts have a 17mm head. Double nut a 10mm bolt and use that to remove the fill plug. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Hard shifting

Are you sure that it is oil and not transmission fluid? The stains can look similar unless you actually get down and touch the fluid. If it is reddish in color then it is transmission fluid, which means you have a leak somewhere in the transmission. Either way, check your transmission fluid level and make sure it is not low. If it is is low, add some fluid and bring it to a transmission specialist to help diagnose and correct the problem.
