My sidekick will just die or barely run it died one time and wiggled wires in left tail light and ran for about 2 weeks took to duck camp 100 miles ran fine idled around in woods for about an hour and then it would not hardly run 3 or 4 miles an hour i tried several things when it stalled I cut the pink wire to fuel pump out of plug and bypassed the plug, thought it was in connection didn't work I then cut pink wire and ran fuel pump direct to battery took ecu out of the loop didn't,t help took plug out of fuel rail turned on fuel pump shot out gas to grill also it had a new fuel filter but waited for son to bring trailer to tow home after about an hour it started ran 65 mph 100 miles back home has run around town for the next three weeks
Last year, OBD1 car (dumbb ECU)
no scan tools for it
if you run on the road with that hack , and wreck
expect a nice fire. fuel fire.
if you used a voltmeter and say 12vdc there, all hotwiring stuff
need not be done. (
it stalled (misfire)
and then would not what? start but cranks ok?
4wd?
3sp ,4sp auto or 5speed stick
16v engine or 8v, both are G16s but EFI radially different.
16v is MPI with 4 injectors, 8v is 1 injector TBI
try a new
cap,.rotor spark wires and spark plugs yet?
cant burn fuel with bad spark
i guess the cam bent did not slip as it run ok later, but is 60,000 mile belt. and will slip ignored.
next time it stalls
check headlamps they work, and all electric
then see if CEL glows key on, i must or ECU lost power
it has 3 fuse that can rust, IG coil, FI, and DOME.
the CEL must glow, is first checks.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank, your fuel filter is mounted in front of the gas tank, good luck
SOURCE: finding truoble codes for 1994 suzuki sidekick
if you live in the states... just go to an autozone... they will scan the codes for free. you may also be able to retrieve the codes by turning the key off and on 3 times and counting the amount of times the check engine light flashes. almost like morse code... when you reach code 55 that's the end of the codes. this does not always work.

ok theres a pcv valve located between the carb and the valve cover. its screwed into the intake manifold. make sure it is hooked up. also check for any vacuume leaks. if you find any cracked hoses, replace them.
also for the guy whos sami sputters on turns. check the ground stud located above the battery on the firewall. if its loose or corroded clean it up and tighten it.check the ground strap coming from the distributor area between the engine and firewall. make sure its in good shape. alot of times the distributor o rings leak oil on the wiring and rot it out. thats easy to repair also. check your engine mounts by standing on one side of the hood and grabbing the engine and pulling it side to side. the mounts are known for wearing out. they are fairly easy to replce and cheap. about 20 a piece if not less.

Usually the easiest place is inside the passengers side quarter panel just in front of the taillight.
