Many possible causes....Too little info to make an intelligent suggestion. Try charging the problem vehicle's battery with jumper cables for 2 minutes with the supply vehicle running at fast idle (or about 1500-2000 RPM, if it is tachometer equipped) before you try to crank the problem vehicle on a cold morning. If it starts right up, you likely have a weak battery that needs replacing.
If the engine is not turning over, you most likely have a dead battery, or your starter is bad. If the battery is going dead, you will hear clicking sound and the lights will dim. If you have jumper cables hooked up between the Tahoe and a car that is already running and it still won't start, I would remove the starter and bring it to a place like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts, where they will test it for free.
Sounds like you are having a problem with the starting motor. When activated, it throws out a gear to engage with the flywheel on the end of the engine. If there is not enough energy to fully engage the gear, or the gear does not engage properly due to misalignment, you may hear a grinding noise. Have the starting motor serviced or replaced.
your problem with chevy tahoe could be caused by the anti-theft G.M/ security system, do a quick test to find out. easiest way is to turn the key to the "ON" position the lights on dash should come on, and look for the one that states."SECURITY" it should be on steady , if it is flashing constantly than you have a problem with the security system. if not then you will need to scan test the vehicle computer on-board system with a scan tool. the failure codes should lead you to the problem.
Sounds like a starter problem, suggest you get it checked at your local trusted mechanic the next time it starts... If the starter is your problem it wont start for many more times.
