Problems with front turnsignal 2005 saturn ion (2)

With the front driver side turnsignal not working, I popped the hood, pulled the bulb out and held up to a light to see if the filigments were still intact. They were, so I re-installed the bulb (no blinking). Then pulled the bulb from the working front passenger side, to check the bulb in the non working front driver side.... Still nothing. Then put it back into the passenger side and now, wahhh-laaa nither front turn signals are working. Saturn wants to charge $112.00 to "check it out" any suggestions?

Front drivers side turn signal stopped working. Removed nonfunctioning bulb, tested socket with functioning bulb from passenger front turn signal. Did not work. Replaced passenger front bulb in passenger front socket. This bulb stopped working after that.

Same issue but have not been able to solve it. Have there been any updates as to how to solve this problem? Doesn't look like the socket can be easily changed. Any suggestions?

In my Saturn Ion 2005 the passenger side running light does not come on and the turn signal does not work in the front.

Buy 2 new generic brand bulbs and put them both in. I did the same for my daughter's car and was baffled when the other one didn't work.

2003 Saturn Ion The wiring harness on both of my front headlights had green courrosion all in them. I had to replace both 6 pin harnesses with aftermarket waterproof replacements. That and a new fuse fixed my headlights high/low beams. The passenger side blinker was jumped off the taillight for years but when I got the new headlight asymblys I disconnected all the ghetto wiring to try a more long term solution. So that leaves me without a front right blinker and daytime running light. If anyone knows how to wire in the bypass that Saturn installs please enlighten me as I can't find a break in the wire and don't want to mess with the bcm. Trying to fix this thing so I can drive for uber. I have almost 300k miles on her and don't need a new car. She runs great but I need this light fixed and don't have much money for pricy dealer quotes just to look at the damn thing. I can fix it but don't know how. Its not the socket or bulb. Its in the wiring somewhere after the second 6 pin harness from the headlight asumbly and before the computer under the hood it all plugs into. HELP!!!

The passenger side, front turn-signal bulb on my vehicle also stopped working. It was fine last night while driving in last night for 3 hours in an EXTREMELY HEAVY DOWN POUR OF RAIN. Last night it worked fine; however, this morning, it failed to illuminate. Thinking it was a burned out bulb, I replaced it with a NEW one to no avail. I then checked ALL fuses inside the car and within the engine compartment ... to my surprise, all fuses were good. I read all responses to this article and was prepared to start troubleshooting the bulb socket, as suggested. However, after setting out of doors with the wind blowing all day (a nice sunny and dry day) and to my surprise, the blinkers and all lights worked when turning on the ignition switch. Although I have NOT confirmed exactly what was the cause, my suspicion is as follows: Water had entered into one of the electrical connectors to the wiring harness for the front, right-hand turn signal light circuit, causing it to malfunction. Once the circuit was allowed to thoroughly dry while setting in the sun and wind during the entire day (daylight hours only), it "apparently" dried and permitted electrical connectivity, thus permitting the circuit to engage and operate once again. Placed the ORIGINAL bulb that was suspected of being "burned out" and it, too, illuminated. Case CLOSED. Hope this helps others in the future.

This is actually the answer to the headache of the daytime / signal bulb issue. After removing the socket, remove the bulb. Look at the contacts where the bulb plugs into. You may notice that one of the 4 contacts is darkened. Just to verify, switch the right plug with the left one. Then try your signals lights again. If that is the solution, you only need to order that part. This solved the problem for me. Feel free to contact me at 561-674-2673. Good luck.

A similar problem with my 2003 Ion turned out to be a recall that was never repaired (it needed a Daytime Running Lamp Jumper Kit installed). I would suggest calling the Saturn Customer Assistance Center (1-800-553-6000); if you give them your VIN# they can tell you whether or not there are any open recalls on your vehicle. Or, call your local Saturn dealership; they can look it up too, and if it is an open recall that's where you'll have to take it to get it fixed anyway.

Also, I forgot to say, if it's a Saturn recall that was never done, you should NOT have to pay anything for the dealership to fix it.

This is *not* a solution, but another way to verify that it's the socket, not the bulb.

I read the above, then went and opened up the light-compartment - sure enough, there was some darkening (barely) in the socket. I wiggled the bulb around and tried the signal again, and it worked. If the bulb was pushed in further, it failed. I suspect that a sliver of insulating material under the bulb inside the socket might do the trick (anything that keeps the bulb from settling in too far), and am planning on trying that if I can find something that I feel will work.

2005 Saturn Ion front passenger turn signal not working

Did you replace the bulb in the passenger side running light/turn signal socket? There are two filaments in that bulb, one for the running light (which you indicate works) and one for the turn signal. If that bulb (filament) is burned out, it will make the turn signal flash faster. I don't know why you were swapping headlights, don't know where the fire box under the hood is, and don't know what a jumper sore is, so can't help you any further. I have a Saturn Ion, and have never found a fire box or jumper sore in it.

I have 2005 Saturn ion front passenger blinker don't work bulb good fuse good back blinker works but blinks fast

If the bulb is definitely good then check the bulb contacts and socket for presence of corrosion that will prevent it from working. Also check for the presence of current at socket.

Where is the fuse box for the overhead light in the 2005 saturn ion

In the 2005 ION there is a fuse panel on the driver's side inside the center console under the air conditioning controls. A black plastic fastener turns to remove the cover right above the floor. It should be in there. If not, the only other panel is under the hood behind the PCM on the driver side of the compartment. There is another removable cover just opposite the driver side cover but I don't recall there being any fuses on that side of the console.

2004 Saturn Ion blinker problem!

Usually when the turnsignal blinks rapid this is a indicator that the turn signal bulbs is blown, you will need to check both the front and rear signal to see which is not working, and then change the blown bulb or bulbs.

How do you get to the front turnsignal bulb to replace on a 2004 Saturn Ion?

Open the hood and look behind the headlamp assembly and you should see some clips / pins. Pull up on the retaining pins and the headlamp should slide forward and out of the way. You will then see the electrical connector, disconnect it. Look at where the signal assembly is and you should see the socket for the bulb, just twist counter clockwise and it will pop out for you to change
