Hello, The reason why it was hard to steer was the engine wasn't running. The rpm, seedo, air condition, power steering does work if the engine has died. First check to see the belts are on the pulley and rolls in the engine carpment. If they are on and not broken then you other problem.

Will you car start, if doesn't. You could have run out of fuel?. Power steer pressure valve is faulty, broke a timing belt, run out of oil and the engine quit working. Engine got hot and stopped.

If it not starting, call a wrecker have them take to a garage of your choice. GB...stewbison

That is a typical RPM at that speed for most 6-speed 4 cylinder engines. The reason for this is that they have a much lower power output at lower RPMs (due to lack of torque), and the engineers want for you to have SOME acceleration to get up little hills.

2000 ford ranger with 3.0 eng. and stick shift, while driving my speedometer quit at the same time my abs brake warning came on. the speedometer starts working after i getup to about 55 or 60 mph any ideas...

Check ABS tone rings and sensors at wheels. Speedometer may be using these signal too. Visually verify rings (look like gears around axles) are intact with all teeth and sensors are at rings with connector attached. Troubleshooting the ABS system is beyond my skill level. If no joy on visual inspection, maybe one of the other experts can chime in on troubleshooting ABS.
