210000 miles. drove to four appointments. got back in, did not want to start,got it to start 3rd try. no idle, chugged in gear. made it home luckily. bought truck 3 mos. ago. changed fuel pump and sending unit.ran fine until this. started with plugs, cap and rotor, code read map sensor did that, iac was nasty did that.injectors delivering fuel. no visible vacuum leaks.does not want to idle, and chugs/ lurches in gear. did get truck up to 40 + mph after iac install. that was difficult but got it done.seems to want to idle better but still chugs in gear. initially would die no idle w/out gas pedal. now a little idle(not like it was when bought)still wants to quit

The water pump doesn't run without this belt. I suspect the engine was overheated even if the gauge or light didn't yet register. I hope I'm wrong... This heads will overheat very quickly and have a low tolerance for this. I replace my belt and throw the old one in the trunk for just such a calamaty.
could have been out of timing could also be fuel pump fuel filters. chevy are very bad about fuel pumps have you checked to see if its getting spark or even checked the fuel pump
GM swears the plugs will last 100k miles, yet I have had to replace them as early as 30k miles.(That was on my wife's 05 Pontiac montana.) A word of advice: Don't get the fancy aftermarket double or triple platinum plugs. I had to replace those again 5k miles later. Went back to ac delco platinums and they're still working after 50k more miles.
Does it also hold first gear longer that it should and then shift right from 1st to 3rd? It sounds like you broke the sun shell in the transmission. The trans will need to replaced or rebuilt.
After I drove it about 10 miles I shut off the engine, and when I came back it made a pop noise and wouldn't start. The battery is ok - there is no power at all.
You've made the correct decision. Let the dealership diagnose the issue. They'll tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).
I had the same problem in my 96 f-350. The transmission has slipped recording a slip code in the transmission. You can pull the codes and get it. I shifts into a safe mode that increases the pressure inside your transmission as part od a fail safe. Plain and simple, you have to have the tranny rebuilt.
