I changed the pads in the front drums in the back and blead all the lines i have no leaks at all...still the pedal goes to the floor. the front left wheel gets hotter than the rest with a thermometer assuming that brake is doing all the work....now if i pump the pedal while stopping it will stay up and stop the vehicle...any sugestions? maybe a power booster? how do i test that part?
Are your rear drums set up? why did you bleed the brakes. when only when you installed new pads?
ok now think with me here. your normal stroke on your brake master is only 2-3 inches so that is where the master cyl is working fine when you push the brakes to the floor the master cyl piston goes further into the bore where it could be dirty or rusted. then the seals get cut or damaged. that is why when we do brakes we do short strokes with the master cyl so we dont ge blamed for the master cyl going out.

if your power booster is leaking you will have a very hard peddal and have a very hard time to push it down just as if the engine isnt running

1992 Ford E350-same brake concern, pedal goes to floor! Replaced master cylinder, brake booster, frt pads and rotors. Replaced rear shoes wheel cylinders, and drums, vehicle stops but pedal goes to floor, squeaze off rear flex hose and pedal is solid. Takes 2 > 3 pumps normally to get hard pedal then goes to floor, wouding in longer brake wheel cylinder pins would fix the problem???? P/S hope you can help.

i bleed them after they started going to the floor....when i put in the pads the brakes worked fine...after about 600 miles it started going to the floor....and yes i have the rears all the way extended to just clear the drum
i here ya i honestly didnt even think of that i'll check it out tomorrow when i get a min. but if the power booster is leaking it will do the same thing...do you know the neg vacuum pressure that they test at? and how long they should hold that neg pressure at?

well people this is a problem i have lost litteraly thousands of dallors on.
i have changed everything from the master cylinder to the wheel cylinders.
now we are into another one.
i read somewhere here on the net that ford has an updated booster and there is an other master cylinder with a bigger piston bore,
some blame the rams valve other blame the abs modual.
if you bypass the rams valve on the frame the brakes work perfect like the old systems did before abs.
but it is elegal to do this and that is why i have never done this but only for testing purposes.
its like the wheel cylinders take to much fluid and alows the master to go to the floor.but the vehicle will stop.
i am going to suggest to the customer that we replace the master with a 1995 ford f450 master and the updated booster that does not take as muck vaccum to replenish itafter brakes are applied.
if i find the problem man i may be able to make all that money back that i have lost over the years.
