My 2007 infiniti m35x will not read my key fob. i am able to unlock the doors, truck (battery should not be an issue) but car wont start...even when i insert into fob port hole, it wont start.

the fob still opens the doors and trunk remotely, so it cant be damaged or a battery issue. besides, the car should start when I place it in the fob slot in the dashboard...i even tried my spare fob and the same results.

Hello! There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #12--8-2008 "Inoperative Key Fob"...It addresses a water intrusion issue...The Fob is more than likely damaged due to moisture...A TSB isn't a recall merely a notification of a problem...I would suggest opening the Fob and inspect for any green material in and around the battery contact area....Send a comment with results...Guru...saailer

Hello! And thank you for your reply...I needed to eliminate the Fob TSB up front...Please clarify for me; When you say it won't start does the starter motor crank the engine over or is there dead silence?

    I am here!.......Saailer

Hello! The Intelligent Key Unit...IKU... (located drivers side near your left foot) is either faulty, or not receiving proper input..Do you have a mulitimeter and a wee bit of experience using it? after checking a fuse, you will need a meter to localize the fault...I will provide instructions on it's use and act as a facilitator to resolve the fault...The problem is either in the key slot module or in the IKU... #1....Check fuse #22 (10A) in the junction box...If good I'll send an easy test to localize...Send a comment ...saailer

Hello! There is an easier softer way to a solution...If the fuse is good and the display is telling you it does not see a key then the key slot module is the faulty component...The push-button ignition switch is operable when the Intelligent Key is within the detention area of the interior antenna or is inserted to the key slot. The Key slot is a dealer item...
Conclusion...If fuse #22 is OK then the solution is to have the key slot module replaced...Saailer

2007 Nissan Maxima. Car unlocks, ignition locked.

Because you removed the fob battery and further compounded by the fact you disconnected the vehicle battery, the complete lock system and the anti-theft immobilizer system needs reprogramming. I am undecided whether a locksmith or an electrician is better, but would suspect the auto locksmith.

The car should always be started with a proper chipped key. The valet key on my car has a chip in its credit card style case. It will start the car if the case is close, or you can give the key to someone just to gain entry to the car and not start it.

The key fob for my car will not unlock the doors or start the engine

You say that your key fob does not unlock the car. Try to open the door ordinary and try to start the car. If the car wont start means that your key fob has lost the program and needs re-programing. The other option is either you by any case confused the key fob with the standard key which is only to unlock the doors. The last senario is when you have opened the key fob to check the battery lost the microchip and that is the reason for not starting. Check following my advice. Good luck.
