It may be the park interlock switch. Try taking it out of park and putting back or try the neutral position if it starts you may have to replace switch. Hope this helps.
next time this happens get someone to hold the key to start if manual with clutch in and tap on the sterter with a hammer or something. if it starts you can just replace the starter contacts or the starter
Taking off the negative battery cable will tell you if a alternator is bad most of the time but not all the time. If you can remove the alternator and take it to a automotive shop and get it tested you will get a true reading if it's bad usually they will do this for free. Hope this helps.
yur not supposed to and no yu dont need to reset them to the best of my knowledge my truck a 97 dodge ram 2500 v8 sat for like 8 months dead battery and had no problems but yes disconecting negative will remove power from the computer message me back with any questions
If you're using your truck to jump start another dead battery in a different car..your truck should be runing when you do that.....
If you leave your truck turned off and are jump starting another car/truck that way..you are drawing your CCA (cold cranking amps) way down, and really shortening the life of your batery..you'll be needing to get jump started yourslf pretty soon.
try fittung a larger capacity battery this will help when you are parked for extended periods of time, but it does sound as if you have something draining the battery, try getting the alternater checked
