I have tried starting engine, removing key and pressing button. I used the car on friday morning and remote worked fine, then within an hour it just stopped and LED light started to flash slow. I have another remote key that stopped working approx 4 months ago (also still opens doors and starts engine), but that one still flashes rapidly. I have tried putting battery in upside down. I'm very confused ????

Factory installed remote start on 2008 Outback wagon will not activate or start the car, no car lights flashing showing an activation as the separate remote fob from the key lights up.

Or would it be the receiver that is not working? I

If the key had gone faulty, the key code must be re programmed on the vehicle computer. This can be done only using a PIWIS tool, available at the dealer or at a qualified Porche garage.
Try also the following reset:
turn ignition on,
turn off.
remove the transponder from the column
push any button on the fob within 6 seconds.
This procedure will reset the key synchronizing again with the vehicle computer.

If you put the battery upside down you risk to short the key remote and break it.

When the key fob is falshing slower it means that is not synchrronised with the car.

    Try also the procedure below:

    1. Unlock your car using the key

    2. Open car door ( if alarm goes off, put key in the ignition to stop the alarm).

    3. Press unlock button on remote and the remote will resynchronize with the car.

If it does not work, then you have either two faulty remotes, if you are not, you have a faulty control module or a problem with ECU.

The best thing to do is going to any authorized card dealer, testing remotes and getting a remote that you know is working synchronised with the car.

1999 porsche 996 replaced key fob battery disconnected battery now trunk releses are locked and cant access battery. How do you open frt trunk manually

Assuming the car battery is ok (if not, buy a male to male cigarette lighter at the auto store and connect to another car until charged enough to unlock the doors...but don't try to crank the ignition!). The trunks won't open if the battery went dead with the alarm set because arming the alarm physically locks the releases.

Sounds like the key code is switched off because you replaced the key fob battery. Try unlocking the car manual with the key in the door lock. Then switch the ignition on to reactive the keyless entry. If this does not work, you might also try pressing the fob unlock button with the key in the door lock until the dash led flashes.

My Porsche Key fob no longer unlocks the doors

Insert key into door barrel or ignition lock and turn key, whilst doing this press the unlock/lock button, the led on the dash should flash to indicate this has initialised the key to the car, then remove key and test operation of remote. If this fails then a new remote plus coding to the car by your dealership is needed
